Official PV Riu Thread (Discussion here for Riu Vallarta, Jalisco & Pacifico Palace)

Recommended Posts

Katie and Chris did write something to say to each other, but I can't quite remember the order of the ceremony. I know that the wedding co-ordinator came and found Katie in the spa the morning of the wedding and told her that what she had written was way too long and they cut it down. They both had something written out which they used to read from during the ceremony (I just checked and I have a photograph of it).

I'm not sure about the CD's. We had everything on an Ipod and went that way.

I was told that because it is a wedding party you can wear whatever you want for the wedding reception dinner. Any other time the dress code would be enforced.

I wrote our ceremony and DH and I wrote our own vows. We had a prayer, sand ceremony, exchanged vows and in all I would think it took around 20 minutes total. You can write whatever you want, I think you just have to keep it at a reasonable amount of time. We did the non-legal ceremony (had a JOP wedding here), and during the ceremony we had to sign a certificate. I thought that was nice because now we have two wedding certificates - one from here and one from Mexico.

Katie did not do a welcome/rehearsal dinner. The mother of the groom, the bride and groom, and I discussed it and decided against it. We were together nearly every night after dinner drinking anyway. No ceremony rehearsal.

We let everyone know in advance of leaving Canada that we were doing the Rythmns of the Night tour, what day and how to book. I think around 20 of us went on that.

The grooms godmother arranged a bus and tour of downtown Puerto Vallarta which she did once she got down there. We were with Sunquest and she arranged it with the rep on the resort. She then went around the whole group and anyone who wanted to go paid her directly and she took care of everything. About 20 of us went on that one and we had our own bus.

There were a couple of other smaller groups of people that went on excursions together such as scuba, speed boats and ziplinning that were all booked once we got down there.

One of the guys booked 3 tee off times for golf in advance and inivted different guys along to each one.

This was one of the things that was so cool. Some one would say they wanted to do something and someone else from the group would go along too. People who had never met before hung out together. All aspects of Katie & Chris family and friends brought together. Nearly everyone was easy going and no one expected to be entertained.

Can you ladies share who you used or will be using for a florist? I have yet to book a florist. I need to get bride's bouquet, bridesmaids, groom's and groomens boutenniers and also centerpieces.

If you used the Riu's florist can you share prices with me.

I really appreaciate it.

Katie & Chris used the Riu florist. I believe that all of the packages (Caprice, Classic and Royal) include a brides bouquet and boutonniere for the groom. I think that there were a selection of tropical flowers to chose from. The bridesmaid bouquets cost them $30 each and there were also some extra boutonniere's for groomsmen and the father of the bride but I don't know how much they cost.

Sorry, I forgot you were not getting married at the resort. The Riu site does list prices for flowers (ie Brides Bouquet 70USD, Bridesmaid Bouquet 30USD etc.) but I'm not sure if those are the same prices if you don't have a wedding package. I don't have a good answer for you but maybe someone else can help?
