Sir,

I am sure it is obvious I am getting very low on time off. Since I have been required to take Village holidays (memorial day, Fouth of July and now also the third of July) and holidays for medical procedures because of a lack of sick time I am getting even lower on time then I had ever imagined. As I had told you many months ago I am trying to save my time because I am getting married in Cancun in November (leaving November 3 and returning November 13). Sonia has told me that being allowed to take time off without pay is up to the administration here at the department. So I am sending this email in anticipation of not having the time to take off when November arrives. I have offered to work the Fourth of July weekend in order to save time. I am willing to save time by working weekends or whatever I need to do if that is an option. But if that is not possible then I am requesting permission to take the time off without pay that I need to make up for the time I don't have for my wedding. Thank you in advance.

Respectfully Submitted,

S.Woosley #144

Love the suggestion of calling in sick but I only have 8hrs of sick time right now and I am using 2hrs on Friday for another doc appointment. Have I mentioned I love you guys!!! Thank you for the support!!
i actually think it is perfect. In this particular case, i think it should be soft and a bit 'wordy' b/c you need to convey a little bit of emotion!

What do you think of this?

Sir,

I am requesting permission to take time off without pay for my wedding. I will be leaving for my wedding on November 3, 2008 returning November 13, 2008.

Due to medical procedures my vacation time is quickly depleting. I am willing to work holidays, such as the Fourth of July in order to accrue additional vacation time.

Thank you guys so much. On our email system I can see what has happened to it and so far he has opened it and forwarded it (probably to the Chief). Getting married here first is definitely an option thanks for bringing that up, in my panic I lost all logical train of thought.

Good luck Lucy! I hope you get a response today and that it's a good one!

Oh, I'm so sorry. I have a friend who is going through a similiar situation, but she's pregnant and hasn't worked at the company long enough to qualify for their maternity leave. (less than a year) So they are giving her 3 weeks off without pay, and she requested an additional 6 weeks off without pay and they said no. sad.gif So, she's probably going to end up quitting.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with the stress of this. These are the times I wished we lived in Europe where they get time off for everything!!!

If it's a manpower issue, hopefully getting someone to cover for you will help. sad.gif

Good luck!!! grouphug.gif

So it may be up to the Chief? Let's hope he or she is either happily married or has a daughter who is :P

Mini hijack, but I'm just thinking of my unholy boss and how I adress his emails to "Steve"...if I had to call him Sir I would throw up in my mouth because he sucks majorly...lol I know it's the protocol in your line of work though :)

Good luck! In a way that email system is great...in another way it's very nerve wracking...now you know they read it...now what!!

Hopefully they get back to you today. I know getting married here is an option, but I wouldn't do that unless you absolutly HAVE to.

FI was worried we'd have a similar situation with his work. He works for Sanitation and they go based on seniority...he's provisional, so he gets no seniorty. It's a 3 day weekend so a lot of guys make it a 4 day weekend. Before we booked ANYTHING I made him ask. His boss basically said "it's YOUR wedding, not just a regular vacation, come to us with your tickets and there's no way you'd get turned down for the time off" We're just concerned about his work buddies who want to come getting the time off too LOL (there'd be like 3 depots with no mechanics LOL)
