UG! I'm not too worried about it, since our wedding is in November, and traveling should be fine. But Jen, you make a good point, general wedding insurance is a great idea...now I just need to look into that. Any suggestions?

I actually haven't looked into it yet. (Hmm, I should get on the ball here.)

But I think I'm going to check with my home owners insurance first and see what they suggest. I think I'm going to see if I can get enough coverage to cover the travel expenses for my guests too. Not sure how much this is going to cost, but it's definitely worth looking into.

I think it's more important if you are traveling during hurricane season. May is the safest month possible. Not during the season, but far enough after that things should be repaired if a storm hit.

I have a link on my website about the option of travel insurance. It gives all the details of what it covers. That way my guest can decide for themselves. I don't want to feel responsible if something goes wrong. Our wedding is really cheap, so we don't need wedding insurance. If I was spending a big chunk though, I'd insure it.

I plan on looking into the free insurance with credit cards. I know one of my discovers or MCs gives insurance. I just don't know what it covers. I dont have an amEx, but I plan on getting one someday. airlines will give you some money if your bag is deleyed, but it's not alot & only for essentials.

We have never used it, we are using it for the wedding, but wont probably ever buy it again. Its absolutly worth the money but than again what are the chances of something happening? Seems to me though that you have a lot of coverage allready and might not really need it.

No, I don't think that's dumb. You are also not going in hurricane season. I think it's smart to weigh out the risk, how much you'd have to lose & the cost. Buying insurance isn't always the best choice.

We probably won't get it. But then I think it's smart for my grandma b/c she will be more likely to decide not to go. It would take something big to keep us from going. I'd have to be the sickest I've ever been to not get on the plane. And i'm not so worried about a hurricane in june.

I purchased it for our wedding, b/c I had a trip planned a few years ago and no INS, and my best friends father passed away the morning we were supposed to leave. My ex tried to get a refund and they would only refund for family members deaths, not a BF's father. Ever since then, I decided if the trip was over 1k, I would purchase it. This is my first expensive trip since then, so I can't say that I will stick to it, but for this I thought it was a good idea.

I think we will be getting travel insurance. We have never considered it before but we are spending alot more money than we usually do for a vacation (we are paying for accomodations for our families). Most of our cost is travel and not the wedding itself.

I don't know where to even get travel insurance. Do I just go through the company I have car insurance with? I do have Amex. Maybe I will check with them as well.
