No Camera Policy for Wedding?

Maybe not wait until professional photos get back, but more so control what is shared on your day. It's more or less that you're paying all this money to have a professional photographer and you have your friends and family taking not so flattering untouched photos of you on your day. I'm still not really sure about it. Just a thought :)

I didn't even think about that part, that makes sense.

I've seen it to the extent in people making a business card or putting it in their programs. I don't think I would go that far - but just spread the word, I have about 50 guests and maybe just mention that we wish our photos remain private while in Jamaica the day before or something. However, I think we're at an advantage that a lot of people probably won't have global cell phone plans to share anyways!

Now that is definitely true, although all it takes is taking the picture and using wifi to put it online after the ceremony (I assume most resorts have wifi)

My resort has wifi but you have to pay for it and it's really spotty. I have no problem with guests taking photos of themselves and posting photos, but please don't take and post pictures of me and my husband, that's what we're paying our photographer for, and I will definitely share all photos on Facebook once they're finished. My photographer does one wedding a week so she is pretty quick on turn around with photos.

This is a great idea! We have been to so many weddings where all guests are focused on is getting what they think is the perfect shot, when in fact they are just ruining other peoples view, and ruining their own view in reality. To remind guests to sit back, enjoy and see the moment through their own eyes (not a camera lens) is very refreshing and something we are going to start doing!! Happily remind guests that you have hired a professional to take care of the photos and you will  happily give them copies! Thanks so much for sharing this article!!

Happy Planning!

This is so interesting. I was going to ENCOURAGE guests to take photos, b/c I thought the best photos were unposed ones, and that's what I usually see from friends, and its such a surprise when ppl see photos of themselves when they don't expect to, but I don't want ppl ruining my professional pictures! I will have to think about this one. I think people are generally sensitive when it comes to posting bad pictures of other people, especially the bride and groom, but I can see why they don't want pics being posted online before they see them.

I agree with you about the unposed pictures, which is why I'm going to get a photographer with a strong photojournalistic style.  All of the fun stuff is going to be happening at the reception anyway--tell your friends to snap away then! :)

  • 2 months later...

We decided to do an unplugged ceremony. We sorta mentioned it to some of our friends and they seemed to be okay with it! We're going to note it in our pre-trip newsletter, our wedding website and on our programs. Hopefully, no one will be too upset that they can't take any photos during our 20-minute ceremony! But we shall see!
