Oh, you won't look like a fool. I go to zumba at the local YWCA, and I LOVE it. I am a little overweight, and there are all body types there; some much larger than me, some much smaller, some young, some older.... Some have the moves down pat, some are completely off, but everyone is having a great time! And it definitely works up a sweat too, if you are into it.

I am really trying to get back into shape. I would LOVE to love about 30 lbs, but I think 20 is more realistic. I go to zumba once a week, and try to make it to the gym about 3-4 times. If I was not gone every single weekend, I would like to up that another day too, but ah well. I am starting to run now... I was never a big fan (FI runs) but I want to challenge myself to do a 5km race soon... and not be one of the last ones across the finish line.

My problem is, FI is out of town for work until end of August, and I find my eating patterns are way off. I do eat less than I did when he was here all the time, but at irregular times, and then convenient.... Like, yesterday I was all healthy all day, and then on my way home I realized I had a bunch of stuff to do in about half an hour. So supper plans went out the window, and instead grabbed a happy meal and a kit kat bar. Grrrrrr..... And then I was annoyed at myself.

But, live and learn. Today I purposefully brought supper with me, so I can eat early after work, before commuting home and running errands. I won't be getting home till 8 tonight. Too late to eat healthily (I try to be in bed by nine or ten, as I am up at 5). It is pretty tough to plan everything, but I think I will get the hang of it.

I'm s 2013 bride in the works of losing at least 50lbs.. I'm not sure if that is even possible but I'm hoping it can happen. I have never weighed so much in my life, granted I just had a baby in December 2011. I have two other children and have always popped right back to my prepregnancy weight around the same time frame of three months. I worked out very hard before the baby, and couldn't work out whille I was pregnant. Due to my scehdule now I can't work out like I want to. On top of that I have to plan a wedding, take care of a newborn + 2, and work fulltime. This Monday was my first day back at work and I literally felt sick trying on outfit after outfit, I ended up wearing a maternity dress. My FI is trying his best to keep my spirits up but it's really hard. I really feel like I'm cheating my baby out of time if I choose to go to the gym after work, since I'm not with her 8 hrs out of the day. On top of all that my daughter is only breastfed/breast bottle fed, so I cannot go on some hardcore diet. I know the wedding it a little over a year away and I also know how hard it is to lose weight so I have to figure out something soon.

I got to figure something out, have anyone of you ever tried the p90x? and if so was it good?

I am not a 2013 bride, but just wanted to reply to your questions. I understand, because I have a child myself, and it is not easy when they are young! For diet, I would suggest looking at weight watchers. I only started it towards the end of breast feeding, but they give you extra daily points to account for what you need for breast feeding. So your supply should be ok, obviously you could adjust it if you feel there are any problems. As far as results, in just over ten months I have lost close to 60 pounds. The program works! I have heard good things about the p90x but haven't tried it. I actually did the couch to 5 k running program, and jog 3-4 times a week with some Jillian michaels DVDs thrown in there as well. But I was losing even when I wasn't working out. Maybe you could slowly build up to working out more? Like aim for 1 or two nights after work, and then once on the weekend? Then it is not every day that you feel like you are giving up your time? It is all very different with kids, I know, but it is also important to take time for yourself. Good luck!

(hey girls this is an awesome thread!! My wedding is in 2014 so i have tons of time! buuutt i also want to loose between 50-70 pounds. i lost 30 in three months a year and a half ago and gained it allllll back and than some.

i wanted to share some of the thing i used the first time to lose the weight.

first thing i did was find a work out partner who would show up! this was the most important thing, because when all your friends are going for beers and you want to go but you have plans with your work out buddy to meet up you cant give them a call or a text to bail because you are committed. for me the person who worked best was my dad and honestly i love it! we have a really close relationship again and motive each other to push harder each and every day!!! plus now he is gonna look super good when he walks me down the aile!

( as a side note this time around i tried using my MOH who also wants to lose weight but she would be flakey and bail all the time... it would get more frustrating and just add to the stress of wanting to lose weight and the wedding etc. so i went back to just me and my dad and if she shows up thats great but i dont count on her now)

the second thing i did was by a bathing suit on line .... but i bought it a size to small... this is hung up on my fridge so every time i go to grab the ice cream i look at this little thing i wanted to fit into so badly and grab an apple instead. than when i felt like i could fit into it (based on weight loss and measurements) i tried it on and it fit!!!! i can tell you there is no better feeling, its right up there with when i saw my boyfriend get down on one knee and become my fi!

i would give myself a "free day" once a week. i dont no about you but as stated above i love ice cream, so one day a week id allow myself (a small) bowl of ice cream because really it isnt going to kill me

i stopped making excuses on why i couldnt go to the gym or to a class or for a walk or run out side... do you no how many times i said "ok gym tomorrow, no matter what im going to the gym" than id get a call at 430 after work from a girlfriend wanting to go shopping, or needed help doing this or that. i made my time from 5 to 630 every day. id shut my phone off and just hang out with me and my work out buddy and after the first two weeks it just became normal. and you no what the best part of it all was! when my girlfriend would ask me to go shopping on the weekend instead of tuesday night i would fit into smaller sizes :)

and i think a lot of women have the same problem as me as we dont want to be a little selfish and take time for themselves. im telling you! just do it. the world will keep going while you work out for an hour every day!!!! the grocery store will still be open after, its not the end of the world if you miss a tv show...take time be a little selfish

and finally the biggest change in my life was i stopped eating out. I packing a lunch, bringing lots of healthy snacks so i wouldnt get hungry and dream of a big mac while at work and give in around 12 and go get a big mac .... honestly biggest thing in my life that i changed

hope some of these work for you girls! GOOD LUCK AND STAY POSITIVE

I'm in to join a 2013 weightloss clhallenge as well!  Jan 2013 for me, so just under 11 months to go!  I'm a visual person so I've thought of challenging myself with monthly bikini photos until the big day.  Scale numbers don't mean a lot ot me, I'm 5' 11, so the number are always "big", no way out of that!  But tone and how my clothes fit is my biggest marker!

If anyone else is willing to do the photograph idea, I'd be bold enough to post mine!!

Thank you for replying -

A coworker told me about weight watchers because she uses it and seeing her when I came back to work, she is a bone now. She told me it took her a year to get to the weight she is at now. I myself have never used or tried weight watchers but I think I may take you and my coworkers advice and try it. Congratulations on losing close to 60lbs. I started the p90x last night, and I'm very sore this morning. It is very hard to do if you haven't worked out in a while. I will team the two together and see what results I get. Generally because I only breastfeed my kids my body looses the weight fast, but I'm assuming the older you get the harder it is. I also have the Jillian Micheal's videos from my last pregnancy, I may incorporate those as well.

Once again thank you for replying and good luck.

Hello and congratulations welcome1.gif

I'm game for the weight loss challenge as well and don't mind posting pics (not bikini pics, not a good look shameonyou.gif). I'm 5' 2, last time I went to the doctors for my post pregnancy checkup I weighed a wooping 170 lbs, so I'm very overweight. My goal is to get to 130 without compromising my breast milk supply. I'm a May 2013 brides so I have a little over a year to lose it. I just need to know when should we be checking in and posting our new information, and should we create a new thread for this challenge.

I have about 13 months and I'd like to lose 30-40 pounds, but I'll settle for 20-30.  I do like that Weight Watchers feels a lot healthier than anything I've done before.  I'm eating less, but I'm not starving myself like I have in the past.  In fact, there are days where I feel like I'm eating constantly.  Thank goodness for those 0-point foods, huh?

I lost another 1/2 pound last week, so I guess that's better than the previous 3 weeks.

9 months for 10 pounds- you'll definitely get there!

I got engaged in June and immediately went dress shopping, about 5 minutes into the appt did i realize how much weeight i gained. about 25 lbs in 4 years (since i met my fi) he gained about 35 as well, but has since lost it. The following week i went into WW and i have lost 20 lbs. It took me 6 months but the weight melted off! I know you can do it!! The benefit to WW is that its not just weight loss but a healthy lifestyle change and it is AMAZING that your fi is doing it with you, i am on my own!!! Stick with the program and it will work! :) Also, dont over do yourself with the workouts, sometimes the stress of wanting to lose weight prohibits the weight loss, relax it will be great! I now have 9 mths left and can lose the last 10 lbs, so theres my struggle! We can do it!!!

Angela,

Love LOVE all of the Jillian Michael workout DVD's. If you are looking to tone up, i really saw good results in strength and toning with p90x. It is intensive, but do it at your own speed and it is great!

Weight Watchers is definitely a good way to go.  You're eating healthier and not starving yourself.  The progress can be slow, but that's the healthy way to lose anyways.  My FI and I are doing WW Online.  I'm not a meetings person...I don't think I could handle going to them and listening to other people talk about food.  So the online thing works well.  Plus, the online tracker is really great.
