Any 2013 weight loss brides out there?

After a stressful year I've put quite a bit of weight on since my OH popped the big question. Now I've decided there's no time like the present to get it shifted and maintained in plenty of time for my big day. I just wondered if there were any other brides-to-be out there that could use this thread as a means of support and to keep each other going! Would be nice to share successes with each other! Hope there are some more early starters out there!!

Good idea, I was thinking of the same thing today. My wedding is a year and 8 months away, but I'd like to get into shape now, and stay in shape until the wedding. It would be great to be at my desired weight and nice and toned while trying on wedding dresses. I go to the gym once and a while with my friends, and my diet could definitely use some work, my main issue is motivation. What keeps you motivated?

You're right, it's better to get the issue under control well in advance, if you can. Planning a wedding (especially in the lead up to it) is stressful enough, without having the added worry of weight loss! I fear that as it becomes closer I will revert to my 'comfort eating' ways, so it's something I want to take control of sooner, rather than later. Like you, I am so desperate to start trying on dresses and getting an idea of what sort of style I want (I've changed my mind so many times over the last year, from sleek and elegant to something with just a hint of (what I call) 'poof'. lol) This is one of my main sources of motivation. Also, as I have put so much weight on recently, we haven't been able to get away on holiday this summer, so FI and I are hoping to get away at Christmas, the allure of the beach helps too! I currently have an 'incentive' list stuck on my wall in the kitchen which helps, but I really do think it needs to get to a point where you're mentally prepared to give it your all. Especially with a diet such as mine, which is a very low calorie one.

I think I'm going to give the "Zone Diet" another try. I did it back in my first year of university, along with going to the gym 3-4 times a week which included 30-60 minutes of cardio and a quick 20  minute circuit of the weight machines. That was the best I ever looked and felt! The zone diet is fairly easy to follow once you get the hang of it, and is not so much about limiting certain foods or calories, but is more about balancing carbs, protein and fats at each meal and snack. I'm going to head to the library tomorrow to see if I can get a copy of "Enter the Zone" so I can familiarize myself with the program again. If you're interested I found some information on the diet here: http://library.crossfit.com/free/pdf/cfjissue21_May04.pdf.

BTW I've been to the gym every day for the last 3 days and am planning ongoing to a yoga class tomorrow, Yay! Wedding dress and bikini here I come!!!

Yay! I was thinking the same thing.... Not getting married until summer 2013, but I have always struggled with weight, and though I started losing weight and getting healthy this spring, I almost went as far back to where I started over the last few months! Grrr! But I really want to be more fit when trying on dresses, and when doing all the planning stuff... easier to stay on track that way!

I am starting zumba in the fall I think, and will be going to the gym regularly once I am back into a routine, but motivation now is really bad. I am a teacher, so you would think with all my time off, I would be doing better, but no. No routine, and the weight goes on!

Hi,

I also am a 2013 bride looking to get into shape for my wedding!  I was a gymnast/gymnastics instructor for 10 years and now since I've stopped it's a lot harder to keep my body how I'd like it to look.  Having other brides to talk to and help keep me motivated would be really great!

I'm a 2012 bride, but for the past year and a half I have been doing CrossFit and been adhering to the Paleo eating lifestyle.  I will say that I feel better than ever, and am smaller than I was in high school!  When I started CrossFit I was a snug 8, now I am a comfortable 2.  CrossFit has made me stronger, more confident, and I feel better than I ever have, I have more energy throughout the day(which I need because I teach kindergarten :)!) The best feeling was buying a size 2 wedding dress!!!!  I hope if you have a CrossFit in your area you will give it a try.  Not only is it a good way to slim down for your special day, but it's also a great way to enhance your life!

No Crossfit, but I am going to sign up for Zumba starting soon. I am so excited! I did it once and had a blast, so now I want to be doing it all the time!

Plus, I signed up for a 5 k fun run that is in a few weeks. Need to get my butt in gear to be ready for it - my first run! I am so excited!
