Newbie - Planning a DW at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton - May 23, 2012

Hi DoubleTee,

I actually haven't really thought about this yet... and I should because I only have a little over 3 months to go... lol

I think we will just be using an iPod... but i dont have a docking station so i dont know... I think for the $300/hr charge for a DJ ... that's so much money we can use elsewhere... and yes i agree that the DJ wont be of much use after the speeches and dinner ... no point paying all that money for someone to coordinate a couple of songs ... i can have someone from our party handle that for FREE!

I'm gonna have to look into renting sound equipment from the resort ...???? or just go out an buy a  good quality BOSE docking station or something... although im weary to travel with so much expensive equipment.

hmm.. yeah im not sure what to tell you because i dont even know what to tell myself!!!!!!!  lol

I'm curious to know if any of you are hiring a DJ and/or MC?  I've read a couple posts that brides have indicated it was a waste of money because by the time you get through the dinner, speeches, etc, there's barely little time left for the DJ to actually play music.  Any thoughts on this?  They've quote me $300/hr.

Are most of you bringing your ipod and docking stations instead?

Thanks,
Tee

Hi everyone!  My wedding is on May 11th at 4:00 right on the beach.  We're having our reception at the Poseidan and have already booked a dj.  I was able to find a dj with good reviews that was less than what the resort wanted to charge - even factoring in the vendor fee!  I've also put a deposit down for a photographer - we decided to go with Sungold. I liked that they included a next day session for either TTD or just honeymoon pics.  My best friend was married a year ago and honeymooned in Jamaica.  They didn't have a professional photographer and expressed an interest in some professional TTD type pictures.  Sungold offered to take a few pics for them at no additional charge!

My FI and I stayed at this resort for a week in May 2011.  It was beautiful!  If anyone has any questions about the resort itself, I'll be happy to answer any that I can!

HI Shaecollins, I am getting married a few weekends before you (April 27th) - congrats BTW - I am also having my reception at The Poseidon, have you decided on a menu yet? I am in the process of deciding and i really want it from Reggatoni (spelling may be off sorry) but the wedding coordinator said I can't. I have had a hard time finding another bride who is having or has had their reception at the Poseidon – so I appreciate your feedback

I haven't decided on a menu yet.  I'll have to email and ask what my options are!  I was hoping to use the Reggatoni menu.  When we were there last year, it was my favorite place to eat!  We ate at Poseidan as well and the food was good - but my favorite was the Reggatoni.  We went back and forth a little between the Blue Lagoon and the Poseidan and ultimately choose Poseidan because it's a lot more Private.  The Blue Lagoon is in the middle between the Italian and Indian Restaurant.  In fact, the night we ate at the Italian Restaurant they were having a wedding reception.  We couldn't see everyting as it was going on, but we could hear EVERYTHING!  The Poseidan is off by itself and just felt a lot more private.  What options did the wedding coordinator provide?  I just sent an email asking what the menu options were - will probably be a few days before I get a response back...

My first choice was to have the reception at The Blue Lagoon but I am actually happy we are having it at The Posiedon, it looks much more private and it looks really nice. I love how it overlooks the water and everything seems to be white - it seems simple and clean. I am using the Waves of Love Package and the colors seems to work perfectly :)

Omeshia is the wedding cordinator they set me up with - I have to say I am not that impressed so far. I am extremely laid back and patient but i have had to send my emails at least twice to her before she responds, not sure if anyone else has had this compliant. She originally told me I would not be able to have our menu from The Reggaetoni restaurant but then i emailed her again last week asking if there was someway i would be able to work it out and her exact response was "Thanks for your email, please note if you are having a private reception you can use any menu but it must be a set menu.  The private reception is $45.00 per person and the set menu can be chose from the Reggaetoni even if you are hosting it by the Poseidon

The other options we were given were the menus from all the other a la carte restaurants. There are also Buffet menu's you are able to choose from but i did not like any one the menus and you must have at least 50 people at the reception and/or charged for a minimum of 50 people - i thought the restaurant menus were much better and priced cheaper. I hope this helps! :)

Hey Ryryks5,

My wedding coordinator is Nekeisha ... and I'm having the same experience as you.

We're about 3 weeks out from our wedding.. and so far the only thing booked is the ceremony at the gazebo and the Blue lagoon for dinner. Nothing else has been figured out or planned.

I emailed her a few days ago to book the steel drum band for the ceremony hour ... but no response yet.

I also asked her about menu... and I got the same generic response. I think all they do is send out generic emails in response to our questions.

I've yet to figure out what the seating arrangements will be for dinner... book the zurielemaka show... my hair and makeup appointment with the spa... and get the form for our ceremony music selections (i only know about this form from this forum!)...

Thank goodness for this forum because I would not have a clue about anything if not for everyone on here!!! Another user sent me the layout for the blue lagoon... so im working on our tables now..

We're still trying to figure out the menu too.. but i think were going with Reggatoni... sounds like the best all around selection of food for each course! and the feedback from everyone on here is making me excited about it!

You would think that being 3 weeks away... they would send me all the forms and let me know what I need to do and be a BIT more helpful.

Im a very easy going person and we're not expecting the world...

but i cant make up my programs or seating chart until I have more information from the resort... If its taking her this long to get back to me about booking the steel drum band... i'm nervous that we wont have time to plan and book everything else we want.

I am getting married March , 2013.  I am having the same trouble with the WC's.  I have even called on some occasions and they have put me on hold and then hung up!  Very frustrating.  My FI and I were just there last month and it truly is a beautiful resort.  We loved every second of it, but this is frustrating.  I have gotten the best response from just calling until I get the best answer.
