Newbie - Planning a DW at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton - May 23, 2012

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone!

I recently got engaged in February in NYC.  My Fiance and I are planning a DW at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton. We were planning a long engagement but that has all changed now since I can't stop looking at wedding stuff, its so exciting!!

We are having a hard time getting in contact with the WC at the resort. Can anyone help answer some of my questions:

  1. We are looking at the "Waves of Love" package - does this include a reception? can it be on the beach or does it have to be at a restaurant? We will be having about 20 people or less
  2. I know this resort is all inclusive but in order to have a cocktail hour, do we need to pay for the drinks?
  3. Can you use an outside photographer? is there a charge to do so?
  4. Do they allow you to pick your wedding flowers, cake, etc. before you get to the resort or is it all done at the resort

We are still in the very early planning stages as we have not been able to confirm that our date is available. I have put in numerous request but have not heard back.

If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

JessicaP

Congratulations! I just booked my wedding there for November 4, 2011. My WC Nakeisha has been very helpful and responsive. There were some times where it took her several days to respond back so don't worry. They will get back to you. I don't know too much as I am still in the planning stages as well. From what Nakeisha told me, most packages are for 8 people or less. Anymore than that is $20 pp. I believe she quoted me $20pp for my cocktail hour which does include alcohol...not too sure about price, may have been $15pp. Receptions are not included in the wedding packages. You can have a private reception at one of two restaurants for $45pp or you can reserve a semi-private reception at any restaurant. This would be included in the All-inclusive package. She said if I was having more than 20 people to consider a reception as they may not be able to seat the entire party together for a semi-private reception. From what I've read from other brides I believe you can have outside vendors but you may have to pay a price. I'm not too sure of when you pick flowers and cake. Hope this helps a little. I'm sure they will get back to you soon. Search Grand Palladium Jamaica on the site. There is a topic dedicated to just this and I subscribe to it. It helps!!! Good Luck

Thank-you and congratulation to you too!

Wow, thanks for the information! It did help me a lot. My WC, Kadi-Anne Rose did get back to me today regarding some of my questions. She did say that we could do a beach reception but it has to be from the buffet menus and it ranges from $50US to $90US. Cocktail receptions are $20 per person. Also, any outside vendors are $300 unless they are staying at the resort for more than 3 days.

Have you picked a wedding package yet? It took me forever to choose which one I wanted. Have you been to this resort before? Did you confirm your date through a travel agent or through the resort?

Thanks for help! I really appreciate it!

I chose the Island Pearl package. I went back and forth with them but in the end it came down to the pink lillies in the Island Pearl. I love lillies and feel they would be beautiful for a tropical wedding.  I booked my wedding date through the resort but am booking my room and all my guests rooms through Destination Weddings. I know there are some mixed reviews about them but my travel agent is amazing!!!

Im glad the resort got back to you. Good luck with everything! Keep us posted

I was considering the Island Pearl package but decided to go with the Waves of Love package. I thought it was better suited for the beach. If I chose the Island Pearl package,, I would have chose the spa; I think it looks elegant.  Have you decided on your location yet?

I have never heard of Destination Weddings. Are they an American company?

Hopefully we can help each other out. I haven't seen to many recent threads on the Grand Palladium Jamaica. Keep me posted on your plans :)

Yes they are an american company. You can go to Destinationweddings.com for more info. I really like them.  I think I'm going to have my ceremony at the gazebo. I really liked that its up on a cliff over looking the water. I don't want a beach wedding.  Unfortunately I booked my wedding very late and we only had the choice of a 12pm wedding so its going to be very  hot!!  If the gazebos not available we'll do the spa. That looks beautiful too!

I will go check them out right now. Do you know if they deal with Canadian travel or is it just American?

I liked the Gazebo too but my FI said that if we are doing a DW he wants to be married on the beach cheesy.gif  Oh yes 12pm will be very hot.  We are looking at 2pm for our wedding time (hopefully its still available).

I talked to our WC (Kadi-Ann Rose) today and she sent me all the menus for the buffet, let me know if you need them and I can e-mail them to you. And the group requirements for each restaurant if you are doing a semi-private reception.

Congrats Jessica!!!  Though I believe we've already chatted through another thread. LOL

I'm getting married there this June on the beach at 4p.  I'm hoping the sand won't be too hot! LOL  We've also booked through destinationweddings.com and have no complaints!  :)

Wave of Love package here!  Exactly what I wanted!  I was so happy when they came out with their new packages!!!  Yea! LOL  It's getting close, so excited!!!

Hey BeachBridein2011, sorry this took me so long to reply. We finally just got our Save-the-Dates out. YAY!! Have you been able to pick any details of your wedding day yet? cake, flowers, etc.? They have the best packages compared to other Grand Palladium Resorts. Your day is going to be here but you know it, I can't wait to hear all about it. I've been looking at some of your planning threads, everything looks amazing. CONGRATS.
