1 year anniversary cruise suggestions

Let me start out by saying that when me & my fiance first starting dating I took him on his first cruise (as his Christmas gift) on a 4-night Carnival cruise to the Bahamas (we had stops in Nassau & Freeport).  It was enough to get him hooked!  We've taken a handful of cruise since then & he's LOVED them all!  We're getting married next april on a cruise (it will be my 7th & his 5th cruise).

We've already been talking about what our 1-year anniversary cruise will be...and there just so happens to be a Hawaii cruise (15 nights!) out of San Diego...that will fall just before the 1 year anniversary marker!

All of our cruises have been Carnival, with the exception of one was NCL.  The whole trip we kept  comparing everything to Carnival (maybe because it's what was familiar to us?).  But we vowed only to do Carnival going forward!  The shorter Bahamas cruise is a great introduction to cruising though!  And you should be able to get them pretty cheap too!

If you convice him to take a cruise...my advice is to sign up for excursions in ALL ports!  They're well worth the money to have activities planned!  And you get to see much more of the island than you would if you ventured out on your own!  Let me know if you have any questions!

You have got to check out the message boards on cruisecritic.com.  They have everything you need to know about cruising, cruise lines, ports of call, etc.  I personally prefer the longer cruises, 3 day cruises just seem too short to me.  My dad went on his first cruise this spring for my wedding.  He was never really interested in cruising before, but he was hooked after my wedding cruise.  I think your husband will have a great time.  Just a little bit of advice, don't over-schedule your trip with shore excursions, make sure you take some time to just relax.  My hubby and I got the couples massage (his first professional massage ever) during our wedding cruise, which was extremely relaxing!

Totally agree. Hubby & I have sailed on both lines before but we both agree that RC is a step up from Carnival in all aspects that Andrea mentioned. At one time we also vowed that we would never sail Carnvial again but we will be going on Carnival Dream this December. We decided we wanted to try one of the newer, bigger ships & chose Dream. We'll probably do Oasis of the Seas next year just to compare that to Dream.

Either way, whichever cruise line you chose, I'm sure that you will have fun. There are sooo many things to see & do that its hard not to have a great time. I think that once you go on your first cruise, you'll be hooked!

We took our very 1st cruise with Carnival (Imagination) and was HOOKED!! Although it was an older ship we truly enjoyed being on her and enjoying all that Carnival had to offer. Our 2nd cruise was with Royal Caribbean (Majesty of the Seas). Another older ship, when some decent activities but for us it was not as fun as our Carnival cruise. The ship was small in comparison and didn't seem to have as much to do on it. Both trips were short and we did our own excursions at each port which was money saving and fun nonetheless.

Between the two Carnival was our favorite, but I really  believe it depends on the ship & not so much whether is CCL or RCL. Bigger ships and longer itineraries is what usually makes the trip even more enjoyable.

Next July we will be doing Norwegian (Jewel) for the first time so I'm looking forward to trying the 3rd of the top 3 biggest cruise lines. This cruise will be somewhat different as we are also getting married on this ship, we may be cruising with guest who have decided to cruise and the cruise will be our longest at 7 days.
