Um..ok? But it's not that time consuming. I take my temp in the morning. And go back to sleep. Then when I wake up I turn on my therm. It saves the last 3 temps. and I write it down. Then if I want it in FF I can once a week enter it in....takes less than ten minutes. I don't see how much time consuming that is. I guess to me I'd rather do things natural than pop pills all the time and deal with the side effects. 10 minutes vs. side effects. Easy choice. :)

Good thread! I have thought about NFP for TTA, but never looked into any real information on it, thanks for the info. I have been on and off BC forever seems like. Presently I'm not on any and hoping nothing goes wrong in between now and August, I plan on starting another year at least in August. I'm not sure I want kids and most doctors won't let me make a permanent decision yet anyway. I'm just gonna try to play it safe for another 3-5 years or TTC, whichever comes first.

I am going to get the book I am going off the pill at the end of the month I am tired of the side effects, we are going to TTC in the fall so not a big deal if happens sooner. I did talk to my obgyn; I am on Yazz and he said the pill is out of your system as early as 24 hours, I orig. thought I would need to go off a couple of months prior to TTC but he said no.

The pills are out of your system quick but sometimes it takes a few months for your cycles to regulate and get normal. I was off bc for almost 8 months and it made TTC difficult because the whole 8 months my cycles were anywhere from 30-56 days. The normal cycle is 28-30. It wasn't until I started charting that I was succesful TTC because I could see what was going on.

I am glad I found this thread on NFP. Does anyone know of anyone in the Greater Toronto Area to get more direction on this? I have never taken the pill before and I do not want to start due to the potential side effects. I just bought the book by Toni W. and will start to read it. I will be so happy if this works.

One other question: What does TTA and TTC mean? I am guessing it means "trying to conceive" and "trying to abstain"? Does that sound right?

Found the thread. HAHA! TTA...yes Trying To Avoid and Trying to Conceive. In my PM with the link go to "tribes" and then find your area and you can ask their for local people to talk to. And the book TCOYF is going to be a ton of help. It is full of information!

My sister did NFP for years - I don't remember her every having a problem with it, and it was a MUCH better choice than being on BC, which caused some pretty awful side effects.

Anyway, she didn't get pregnant until she wanted to - so as long as you're willing to stick with it, I think it probably works great. She basically just said don't have sex during your fertile period. Easy.

So I finally picked up this book everyone is talking about. I started reading it the other night. Whether or not you are for NFP or against, I think it's an important book for women to read. There are so many things most women (me) don't know about their body. I'm excited to read this book for the education purpose it provides. I already feel like I've learned so much and I'm only a few pages in. Can't wait to see what the next chapter holds. My husband is reading it too. He seems to be more intouch with my cycle, so it's only fitting.
