We are doing the same. Our package comes with my bouquet and his boutonniere... we aren't really planning on buying flowers for the GM's or the BM's. We will decide when we get down there as well!

In the end, its completely up to you. If you want to do them; a simple white orchid or other white flower could be nice and not busy on FI only.

my DH did not wear one - it got "lost" somehow LOL. i wish he had worn it just for the ceremony because of the ugly little mic the videographer put on his suit...maybe the bout would've hidden it a little better, but i think it looked fine without him wearing one. he really didnt want to wear one from the get-go anyway.

:) I was wandering the same thing.... I'm all for going without the bout. I've actually always though they looked kinda silly tacked onto a man's chest.

My guy is also all for saving $$ (the resort charges $40 for one bout). He will be wearing a dark gray pinstripe suit, so I think I might look for a decorative handkerchief to serve in its place instead.

Thanks everyone! I am sure there are equal numbers of people who do boutonniere and love it, however, I'm glad to see there are lots of people who don't.

I think I'll play it by ear and not order any (Thinking about fake flowers) and use the free one as a backup just in case i change my mind (which has been known to happen!)

I am currently having this same debate as well. I am thinking no boutonniere because of the linen shirts, l wonder if it will make them drag a little.

I definately don't think that they are necessary! DW's are a little off the beaten path, so why not do whatever you want!

I am also considering ditching the BM flowers for parasols as well! BM bouquets are $50 each, and the parasols are $15! Just another way to a save a little.

I was planning on ditching the boutonniere but FI decided he wanted vests for the guys. To cut costs we are doing a non-floral boutonniere. I've seen bouts made out of a thick starfish with a pin superglued to the back. As for the BMs I am using parasols and using the small floral credit towards decor for my chuppah.
