Bestman backing out?

Recommended Posts

wow that stinks, I hope you can get it all worked out. And let me tell you teenagers don't think about these sorts of things at all...believe me we are in the prom season and my students could care less that AP Exams come before prom, and that they have a research paper due today, all they want to do is look online at dresses, figure out dinner plans, gossip about who is going with who, etc.

Yeah I have been that way with the wedding, that last place I wanted to be was sitting in a classroom talking about anatomy. I would understand if we never asked when prom was, we knew it was a possibility so we checked and he never answered us. We even asked his mom but nothing. I swear they all have their heads up their butts.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this! Having a 17 year old brother... I understand that they usually don't think about anything until the very last moment and then usually make poor decisions. But come on... if you asked his mom specifically about date conflicts WTF? So sorry... but I'm sure it will all work out!

I wonder if he didn't know until recently. I don't think we for sure knew the prom date for our school until late February, which is still means he had plenty of time to give you a heads up (such a teenager thing to do)

That could be true as well... for high school formal dances my brother always seems to wind up a date last minute. He doesn't ever really want to go - but if one of his friends that are girls doesn't have one or something happens - he will go with them. My mom is nervous he may end up going to prom this year last minute and have to figure out the tux and flowers and stuff.

Stephanie - Like you need another stressor right now! ARGH! Would your FI have trouble finding another BM? Maybe one of the GM's could step in. I can see how his nephew wouldn't want to miss his prom but surely he knew sooner then 2 weeks ahead of your wedding! WTF! I hope everything works out!

So we still have not heard from them but we are stepping in to our new plan. We asked one of the ushers to step up to groomsman and if the nephew comes we will be uneven but I seriously don't care. I have a friend who I would ask to be a bridesmaid but I have no clue what she would wear and she is already my personal attendant and doing tons of stuff. So if he doesn't come we will be balanced. There is a slight chance if the nephew can't come than Chris' neices won't either. They are minors and my FIL's would have to pay a fee to have them travel alone. Future FIL is a pilot so we are working it out. So I am trying to find a new usher too. I really am not super stressed. I am off from school until after the wedding and I have tons of stuff done, I am just doing last minute things.Thank GOD I haven't printed the programs yet :)

Well crap- teenagers are teenagers. I certainly know I wasn't a responsible one. And as for prom, I remember not knowing months in advance when it was. I remember finding out like 6 weeks or so- still they should have let you know once he figured it out.

I'm glad you are making the steps to make it work. I'm super glad you aren't stressed over it either. Uneven bridal parties aren't that big of a deal. Def worst things that could happen.

Exactly!

It still totally sucks though. I swear, asking a million times isn't good enough with teens....although I still think the 'rents should have figured this one out well in advance.

No matter what, your wedding will be great though...BM or no BM.
