How long did you date before enagaged?

We were together 7 years before we got married but we were "friends" (read as: we used to make out with each other on & off) for about 2.5 years before that...

We have been together for 20 years, living together for 18 and have three children. When we get married it will one month off of 21 years. Have known him for 26 years. :-)

I can't BELIEVE some of you girls waited so long before getting engaged! You guys are much more patient than I am. I waited for 4.5 years before getting engaged. We will be married around our 6 year anniversary.
