Children (or child) at wedding

Recommended Posts

Hello brides!

We're getting married in less than a month in Turks and Caicos! We only have on child at our wedding (my only niece) who is also our flower girl. I want to make sure she has enough activities to do during the reception since she's the only little one. She's 3. Any ideas? I will definitely have a coloring book and crayons, but have any other ideas? She's my only niece (or nephew for that matter) and I want to make sure she has fun.

Thanks!

Betty

btw..the wedding is outside on the beach!

Hey Kim!

I would think that your niece's mom would definitely pack plenty for her to do; perhaps some of the guests will be available to babysit to some effect later in the evening as well?

I know my sis and bro in law are likely bringing their boy and girl (who will be in the wedding with us as well), and feel great about doing so because grammy and grampy will be around to babysit throughout the resort time! LOL

Maybe a puzzle? A disposable camera for her to take pictures? A little doll/stuffed animal that's a bride?

She's at an age where it is a little difficult to figure out what you could give her that isn't noisy/messy. Maybe you should ask your niece's mom what types of things she likes (ie characters, activities, etc.).

Hope that helps a little.

You could set up a table or blanket off to the side with a variety of toys/puzzles to occupy her time. And when the "babysitters" are there to play with her she'll enjoy it even more as it will feel like her own personal little playhouse. And yes, her parents should definitely add to the batch by bringing her fave toys. An ipad works wonders for kids too. Keeps them busy for hours.

I've heard an idea where they give the kids an "iSpy" game. They print out a pretty list of things/people for them around the event space. If she's old enough, you could give her a camera to photograph all the things she finds.

Also, if all else fails, you could set her up with a comfy chair, some cocoa, and an iPad with a good movie idea.gif

At 3 my daughter finds entertainment in anything ...one fav is a beachball I keep in the car for baseball games for her brother...people don't mind if it bumps them and she's just happy as can be throwing it around. Also a bag of lollipops lol
