Hello! I am getting married at the Grand Sirenis next May and need advice!

1) What restaurant is the best for weddings

2) Do they decorate the restaurants? Chair covers?

3) Has anyone gotten the bridal bouquet that comes with the Gold Package?

4) What is the best location to have the wedding on the beach?

5) Has anyone rented the dance floor? Seems expensive but we have a 4 hour reception so we want to dance!

Thank you!!!

Hi!

This is my first post! We have been to Grand Sirenis twice, and LOVE IT! We are getting married there in Dec 2014. Are you booking your wedding package through the resort it self or through Air Transat??

We have noticed a huge difference in the pricing between the two and are wondering if anyone has any experience with them?? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Lee-Anne,

We have been to the Grand Sirenis twice and we love it! All the restaurants are really great! For weddings, it all depends on how many guests you have..some are bigger than others..we havn't been for a wedding but have been weddings done while we have been there.

The steak house and mediterian would be the biggest and the japense and brazillian would be the smallest with the italiian in the middle for size.

Hope this helps!

Did you book your wedding package with the resort or through Air Transat Vacations? we noticed a huge price difference so we are not sure which to book with yet!

Congratulations! I am also going to get married at the Grand Sirenis this coming August! It's really coming up quick!! There's a really helpful thread called Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Brides??

There are several wedding packages you can choose from. We want to have the works so we chose the Presidential Package - and that gives you a private location to have your wedding. I'm going to have the ceremony on the beach and then reception at the Palapa. They give you chairs with covers and blue sashes (to change the color sash I think you have to upgrade), but with the Presidential Package we get the Tiffany Chairs (which I love).

But if you aren't going with the pres. package, I think the restaurant on the Mayan Beach side by the pool (i can't recall the name, I'm sorry) has the nicest open floor plan and colors (black and white I think).

Also, the dance floor price I got quoted was going to be around $500 CAD. I'm still undecided whether that will be worth it. It's a pretty hefty price tag!

Hope this helps!

Sorry for delay - house renos have taken over my wedding planning time! Actually, we have quite a large group, coming from all over Canada and the US, so I opted to get a destination wedding group specialist with Flight Centre to organize the trip part. As for the wedding itself, going through Flight Centre wasn't even an option, so we booked through the resort directly. I read many reviews that sometimes when you book through the travel provider, you have issues having certain things honoured with the hotel - so we decided to go right to the source.

500 deposit to reserve the date. We went with the Gold Package, only because we maybe have up to 70 guests, and the private menu is just too pricey for us (80-100 per plate per person, ion additional to the cost of the package). Although every time I look at pictures of the Palapa, it makes me kind of sad :-( But to please family we also have to throw a huge wedding in Ottawa, so 2 weedings is already crazy enough!

The white and black restaurant is the Italian restaurant, and it is really beautiful! But how it works is, you give your top 3 choices of restaurants and they tell you 2 weeks prior which one you are getting.

So far my experience dealing with the wedding coordinator at the resort has been fantastic. They answer all my questions and I usually don't have to wait more than an hour or two to get a response - which is WAY quicker than I expected dealing with someone from Mexico!

We just recently shot a beautiful wedding at the Grand Sirenis, thought I would share some photos with you. The beach at this hotel is really pretty and if you are looking for a religious ceremony, it's got a lovely chapel (not all the resorts do!). Check out this Grand Sirenis wedding of Xiomara and Oscar.

Hi Lee-Anne, I`ve been there several times and I think the best is the brazilian, my cousin got married there (thats why I chose that resort), but got married at the Palapa, it was beautiful, if you can upgrade I suggest you do. The bouquets are very small and very simple, my cousin´s was really simple but she didnt want to upgrade because those are just flowers that you will use for 30 minutes during that day. Honestly I would suggest you go for the presidential package with the palapa, I had so much fun that time and the place is soooo romantic and very intimate and private, my cousin had the dance floor and it really helps to give your guests stability when dancing. Hope this helps a lot, I know about this because of my cousin, she is helping me out to plan everything and she also lets me know what is better to have and what is not worth it. If you need more tips let me know, I think I am sooo excited that I want to help other brides as well

I'm getting married at GS April 2, 2014.  We found this resort actually through our travel agent who just had a close friend come back from getting married there.  I'm beyond excited - although it is quite stressful! I'm wondering if the day we get there we get to sit down with the wedding coordinator to go over our requests and decorations and whatnot or just be surprised the day of?  We went with the Presidential package and asked for the palapa upgrade.  If not then the beach reception is perfect.  We decided to hire an outside photographer/videographer as reviews I've read of the one the resort provides is terrible (I don't mind paying the fee - I will not sacrifice my wedding pictures!)  We are at the point right now of choosing invitations and then I'll concentrate on my dress!  I'm hoping to send all the documents back by the end of december/beginning of january in regards to flowers etc.

Anyone have any tips on what to cut out to keep price low? I was thinking simple decorations so the setting can be accentuated but maybe more flowers? How do you know how many tables you will need? are fees something that they tally the night of or day after and you pay or do you have to know exactly at the time how many of what item you want?

Thanks

Janelle
