Kids coming? Or baby sitter?

Recommended Posts

Me and my fiance are inviting children to the resort, but are not sure about inviting them to the actual wedding. My sister in law is bringing her mother-in-law to watch her kids and a few other kids, so most of the kids are all set. But what do I say to the other people that are coming (I don't know exactly if they are bringing their kids or not). I would rather have kids not come only because we have sooo many kids in our family. I just don't know how I would word it on the invitations. Any suggestions?

Oooooh that's a tough one. Not that I don't love children cuz they're cute and all but there's a time and place for that. That being said you could go a few ways here. First of all you did invite kids to the resort so many people will feel like the entire event will be kid friendly so you will need to decided up front if you are going to have an adults only ceremony and reception or one or the other. Personally well behaved kids at my ceremony don't bother me as much as they do at the reception.  I would say something like "All familes welcome to our ceremony. Adults only dinner and dancing reception to follow" I don't really think children, especially small ones, belong at the reception. There will be drinking and the adults will want to dance and kids usually take over the dance floor. And it's a chance for mommy and daddy to have a lil fun away from the kids. To avoid parents feeling like they can't enjoy the night see if the hotel offers child watching services and if not see if a younger cousin or family friend would want to make a some cash by watching the kiddos during the reception. Also to make the kids feel included maybe you could do a kids and family adventure or dinner the night before. Good luck with that and let us know how it all goes!

We never had any kids at our wedding although we were prepared for a few to come.  I didn't want kids at my wedding because I didn't want people to focus on crying miserable children instead of the wedding ceremony.  That said, we were going to allow kids to the reception as it was pretty casual and layed back and only formally involved a dinner (We made our own fun later in the night at the pool side bar and disco).  If any children would have come we would have asked that they find a babysitter, or at the resort we were at there was a kids club where they could drop off their kids for a few hours and then go pick them up after the ceremony.  Maybe this is an option at your resort?
