When to send out invitations??? HELP???!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am having a huge dilemma right now with deciding when to send out our wedding invites. We are getting married in Mexico at the end of April 2012, we sent out STD in July with all the information for booking the resort and we have people who have already booked (38 people now going), but I am unsure when I should send out our invites: 1) do I send them now (as the final payment is due November 30) or 2) do I send them out a couple of months before the wedding?

I am also unsure if I should send out the invites to our wedding with three options: 1) going to Mexico; 2) will be at our AHR and 3) wonâ€t be attending either – these options would be for our family and friends that we are inviting to our wedding and our AHR, but I wasnâ€t sure if it was too far in advance to expect replies back for our AHR. We are planning on sending out an informal invite for our AHR to everyone else who wasnâ€t invited to the wedding, which we will be sending out 6 weeks before the AHR.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I think if the final payment is already due at the end of November (it seems a bit early to me for an April wedding but...) you should send out the wedding invitations now. I think the invitations for your AHR should be separate since it is a fair bit in advance for that. Your invites for the AHR should probably go out at the recommended time on wedding checklists (I think it's like 3 months in advance or something). At least that's what I'd do. Hope that helps.

Good luck!

Do you have a good idea of who is most likely going to say yes or who will say no?  I'm also getting married in April, and I was wondering the same thing.  But I don't have a nearing deadline yet.  I would say if you have a pretty good idea of who will come, maybe wait a little longer to send the invites, but if you really aren't sure who can come... send them now.  You definitely don't want to be surprised when it comes to your final number.

My wedding is March 29, 2012 and I'm in the process now of making my invites. I'm including the DW and the AHR on the same invite just because I really don't really like having to do 2 sets of invitations. I'm hoping to have them in the mail around Thanksgiving. I know it's 4 months before the DW and around 5 months for the AHR (AHR is May 5). I feel like with the holidays and then everything I will need to start doing for the DW I just don't want to worry about working on my AHR invites and spending more money on postage.

I think you are fine sending them out before the final payment is due. Honestly, having a DW doesn't really follow all of the proper rules of wedding checklists. That's how I feel anyway cheesy.gif

  • 1 month later...

(sorry for the late reply)

We knew that a lot of his family would be coming, but a lot of mine wwon't be (bc a lot of them are older), so I have decided to send out invtations for both the DW and the AHR in the New Year. Our travel agent called those who put deposits down to remind them to make their final payment so that saved me a lot of hassale!! I figure sending out the invites in the New Year also gives people who didn't already book, a chance to book a last minute deal. :)

I agree - I am not following all the proper rules, but at the same time my future mother-in-law is fighting me on not being traditional (which makes it difficult at times)!! HAHA who said going away to get married is easier then getting married at home??!!!
