My Guest "Book" Idea

I love this idea so much I had to share.  I'm going to get a bunch of rocks (not sure if I'll get them before we leave or try to find some there) maybe a little smaller than the palm of my hand.  I plan on putting one on everyone's place setting and scatter some green permanent markers (Green's my wedding color) and have everyone sign their name on their rock.  Then I'll bring them home and make a centerpiece or put them in a vase or do something cute with them.  No picture yet, but I'll show you the finished project when we return.  Anyone else doing something unique like that?

funny you should mention it. Last night I was researching beach glass ceremonies for our wedding. I came across a site that had details of a rock ceremony. Each guest is given a stone and asked to write their name and a wish for the couple on the stone. Then at the end of the ceremony they are collected into a vessel of some kind there was a reading that went along with it I believe. I had never heard of it before. I like your idea to do this at the place settings of the reception. great guestbook idea!

Thats a cute idea.. there are so may ideas on this site its crazy lol I really need to get to 150 so I can start downloading the templates  and making a list of what i need to get. So may things I never thought of like the card holders etc..

What a cute idea.  But with luggage fees and weight limitations you may have an issue trying to take them with you on the airplane.

What about doing it with shells instead? Much lighter than stones and they'll take up less room in your luggage.

I think shells would be pretty!

Yeah I like the shells idea I just like rocks better then shells, and would find better things to do with the.  I was hoping for flatter stones so they were less heavy, I guess we'll see how many guest we get.

I saw this idea earlier in my planning stages and was thrilled until my fiance pointed out that these rocks had to come home with us which meant lugging them around after the wedding. So I was more interested in using these as place cards/escort cards so that initially it would be heavy but then each of the guests could take it home.  But again the weight deterred me (well fiance still wasn't so thrilled about adding them to our luggage) so I have decided to go in a different direction. But I still like the idea, considering I already have a huge vase filled with smooth pebbles at home -- I go collecting them on the beach nearby! 

And I think the shells is also a wonderful alternative!

this is a really good idea, i wonder if it will be a huge weight issue if you just do the names on the rocks, then you could use smaller rocks. if people have to write a wish on it for you then that can be the problem.
