Timelines

Recommended Posts

We are getting married on the beach at 3pm at the Now Sapphire in Puerto Morelos.  We are having a 1 hour cocktail and h'dourves after the receptions at 4pm and I am thinking dinner would be 6:30-8:30?  I am just not sure what to do about speaches, cake cutting, etc.  Does anyone have some suggestions and timelines you could share?  I am doing this on my own and haven't been to a wedding in over 15 years!  Our wedding is very informal and only 22 guests.  Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!  Only 50 days to go!

Jenna - be sure that the speeches aren't too long because the worst thing is to be hungry while someone is talking.  wink.gif  I've been to many weddings that the speeches were long and I was starving even after the cocktail hour.

I'm having a 3pm wedding at Now Jade, right next door to your resort. We made our cocktail 'hour' two hours from 3:30-5:30 (while we do photos), and then the dinner will start at 5:30. We are having a sit-down dinner, so we will spread the speeches out throughout the night between courses. We are doing the cake cutting right before dessert is served, so our guests can have cake or the regular dessert or both. Instead of having a dance, we're all just going to the bar at the resort after dinner, so our 'formal' reception is only 2.5 hours. Hope that helps!

I have a question about time line, but i wasnt sure where to post... I'm wondering if anyone has done/is doing wedding photos of the bridal party prior to the ceremony? Im thinking this could save some time after the ceremony as we would only need to do some family and group shots following the wedding. (we aren't too worried about tradition so not concerned with seeing each other prior to the ceremony). That way FI and i could enjoy and mingle at cocktail hour? Let me know if anyone has thoughts or experience with this. Thanks so much ladies Kat
