Make your own dress

Has anyone else made their own wedding dress or is thinking about doing so? I am in the process of completing mine, just some trim and internal workings to finish and I'm really happy with the result. Whenever I mention this to anyone, the reaction is always shock. I've not really ran into anyone else doing so. I though I'd open this thread so my fellow seamstresses can share their trials and triumphs in makeing their wedding attire.

PS here is mine in progress. I'll post better pictures as it progresses.

Wow, it's beautiful! I made all my prom/homecoming/formal dresses in the past, but I just can't bring myself to do this one. I wish I had a nice dress form like that, might inspire me to do it!

The dress form is a must. I actually only got her half way through making the dress. Before, I was arranging the lace appliqué on the bodice stuffed with a pillow and tissue paper boobs. It was comical!
