What shoes/sandals did your wedding guests wear on the beach?

Recommended Posts

I think a lot of our guests are intent on dressing formally for our beach ceremony and I'm worried about their shoe/sandal situation if the guys wear dress shoes and the girls wear heels. I've promised a few people I'd send out a mass email soon with tips for the attire but I don't really know what to say.

FI already decided he wants to wear dress shoes also and he figures he'll just take the sand out of his shoes once the ceremony was over.

Just wondering for those who have had their weddings, what did most of your guests wear on their feet? Did they end up going barefoot for the ceremony or just kept them on? Was their any problems with sand getting in shoes?

Thanks.

We chose flip flops as the theme for our wedding. So the entire wedding party wore flip flops, and we invited our guests to do the same. I just checked my pictures; most of our guests wore sandals of some sort. A few of the men wore regular shoes.

In terms of attire, the women more or less dressed the same way they would for a normal wedding: dresses, skirts and nice tops. The men wore pants and a shirt, but no tie or jacket (except for the groom, who wore a suit). So the sandals/flip flops worked well with the dressiness of the attire.

We made sure to explain that the ceremony was going to take place on a sandy beach on our wedding website. After that and telling everyone to feel free to wear flip flops (in both the invitation and on the website), we left the foot attire decision up to our guests!

I don't know if you are sending out a pre travel brochure or anything, but we are, and we are going to include ideas of what to wear for our wedding.

Some of my guests went on fancy and regular flips flops, others went on wedges, others went on flats, and they're we´re some that wore thick heels lol, but at the reception I gave out some flip flops to all my guests, I had them custom made with my husbands name and mine and our wedding date at partyflops.com   and they loved them.
