  1. So since we're getting married on the beach, finding an aisle runner that prevented us from sinking into the sand was a challenge. However, I came across a girl's tutorial on WeddingBee and she had used beach mats to make hers! BRILLIANT!

So, I ordered 7, 2.5x5ft beach mats and used hot glue to join them together. I found out there's these little multi-colored threads in the mats that I don't like, so I went and got some blue spray paint this morning. Yes, 35 ft of spray paint...my finger already hates me!

So this is what I started with

    The ugly thread....

And here it is so far!

While I was spray painting I noticed that it's VERY succeptible to wind. So I'm thinking maybe doing river rocks on the outside part? Or maybe some clear fishing weights underneath it. And then where the blue lines down the middle are now, I'm going to put fake rose petals.

  2. Granted we're not flying anywhere, we're driving 3 1/2 hours because flying to anywhere was out of budget, but we're actually spending around $700 after all is said and done. The ceremony space is free, the reception space is going to be $100 total. Our officiant is only $150, our cake is $75, and my best friend is a professional photographer and also a client of mine so I am trading her design work for our wedding photography. I'm giving her $150 for travel though. Adding in with hotel costs and the extras for paying for ingredients for our dessert buffet and the other little things, it's around $700 :)

It is simply beautiful. She made me a copy of it and I listen to it about 3 times a day. I am trying to desensitize myself to it because it makes me cry. lol

You're brave! That song is used in the ASPCA commercials and I would be bawling my eyes out due to the only thing I'd be able to envision is abused animal faces crybaby2.gif

  4. It looks beautiful on! I think the decision to nix the Dakota was a good one, this one is definitely perfect for a Vegas wedding! And I love that skirt :)

I ordered standard sizing because all of the dresses i tried on in bridal shops fit perfectly. This one is slightly too tight, but I've also put on a couple pounds in the last couple weeks :~/

I was originally going to have a Dakota replica done by SOP but since I decided not to go with them...this dress called out to me instead. I was completely anti-bling the week before I ordered it, i don't know what happened! It doesn't really resemble original Lazaro design, but I love it :) For the price, it is PERFECT for my Vegas wedding! Sorry the pics aren't the greatest! I had to be a photo ninja in poor lighting so honey didn't see it!

  5. I would go for the white, personally. The ivory does look a bit too much against your skin, which is funny because for most of us it is the total opposite!

On the other hand, lighting in salons is AWFUL! I would ask if you could walk outside for just a minute (YES, they do this at some salons and give you a little hand mirror to take) and will go outside with you so you can see what the color *really* looks like.

  6. I think your watermelon pink and blue idea sounds adorable! I haven't seen it on the beach, but that doesn't mean that you can't!

We are actually doing shades of blue. Originally it was going to be purple and orange, but FI has had very little opinion in anything for the wedding and one thing he really wanted was different shades of blue that compliment the colors of the ocean. So, that is how we came to that decision. :)

  7. Alexis all of her stuff is adorable! Thanks for the link. :) FI is going to love your gift!

If anyone is interested, this http://www.etsy.com/shop/BetweenEverything?ref=seller_info is the Etsy seller (only $24 and then I bought a nice frame/mat at Ikea). If you don't like the date idea, you could get song lyrics, a special quote, memories the two of you have from your relationship, the state/country where you are getting married with a heart where the city is, etc. Lots of fun/cute choices. Good luck ladies!

I don't mean to sound like a "B" here, but I don't understand why you FI is so dead-set on having groomsmen. This wedding is about the two of you, not him and his buddies. It's great that he suggested some girls to be your bridesmaids, but do you REALLY want some girls that you barely know standing beside you when you get married? Sorry if I sound mean, but I think he is being kind of selfish about this.......

Yeah I have to agree with this as well. We aren't having a bridal party because the wedding is about us, not who is standing with us. You need to chat with him. It sounds pretty selfish that he "needs" the guys up there with him and you aren't able to have your ladies with you. Why doesn't he have honorary groomsmen? List them in the program, but they sit with everyone else.

Bottom line, you need to figure out why he feels this way and express to him how much it hurts you.

  9. Gorgeous dress! And making a veil is VERY easy! There's lots of DIY tutorials floating around on the inter-webs. It's seriously as easy as cutting and sewing a comb on. SUPER simple, and cheap.

  10. You're much braver than I am! LOL! I'm not sure either of us would go for it, but I'm sure it'll be awesome for you guys!

We're getting married on the Oregon coast so it doesn't get too terribly hot during the Summer. :)

And we did, but we also got drawn into the classic seersucker suit too. But thinking we may do that for rehearsal dinner night. My FI is basically letting me dress him too, so I was very surprised when he got excited about this suit (pictured below). Not what I expected at all! And after some thought & discussion, it has grown on me. Probably not the bowtie, but the rest of the suit would work. It would be SO unique, which I love and he seems happy. And more formal than the tan suit. Still not sure if we pull the trigger though.

  11. I'm trying to figure out what I should show FI as some suggestions as to what to wear. Even though he's literally letting me dress him, LOL! I don't want him to be over the top dressed up (no bow ties, etc), but I know that he still wants to wear a tux. My dress is pretty elegant still and I don't want him to look way too casual next to me.

    This is my dress
