Groom Gift on Wedding Day?

Good Morning Ladies!..

I have seen in movies how the bride and groom have gifts delivered to each other while they are getting ready on their wedding day.. Are any of you doing this?  And if so, what are you going to get your groom?

I'm thinking a nice watch would be a good gift.. But I don't know what kind. Open to any watch suggestions or anything else. )

Hmm now that you mention it I have seen it in the movies....I think I will try and do something for FI but likely not a watch because he is so finnicky about those. 

Anyways I will post any ideas I get around here and hope to see some from some other Brides!!!

I've seen this trend too!  My FI's sis was married last year and at the rehearsal dinner she gifted her husband with a beautiful watch and he gifted her a beautiful diamond tennis bracelet.  Both of those gifts were very expensive and I immediately thought to myself, "Oh crap...am I supposed to do the same thing?", lol.  But...they were getting a bit of financial help for the wedding from her parents, and they had been saving for the wedding since they got engaged about 4 years prior.  I asked 2 of my best friends what they did and one said she thought it was  just custom that the groom sends the bride a bouquet of roses, thats what her guy did.  The other girl said they didn't exchange gifts, just sent each other very sweet cards.

I don't plan on buying my guy a groom's gift, and I don't think he plans on buying me a gift either.  We are already paying for everything ourselves. Even with a DW, the costs add up quickly and we're already a bit over budget even with me watching every penny and us both being very frugal with $ we spend.  So..our gift to each other will be paying for our wedding, lol.  

I am planning on doing personalized cuff links and a personalized pocket knife (he carries one everywhere!)!

 Ahh okay.. well I totally understand with you having to pay for the whole wedding yourself. We too are saving up and paying for our own DW and possibly the AHR.. We are hoping to keep everything, included travel costs, to under 15k. We started saving around February and have 100 or so automatically come out of each of our paychecks and go directly into savings accounts. <--Awesome idea on my fiance's part. I never miss the money and it's adding up rather quickly. And I'm soo with you about expenses adding up quickly.. I love the budget program on weddingwire.com.. Although I realized I have already spent over $500 and not a whole lot to show for it. :-/

I think my FI would also love cuff links.. I still have no idea what he plans to wear on our big day but if it's something that needs cuff links, I will sooo get those for him!.. )

Another gift idea is a boudoir album if its within your comfort level. The photographers can be pricy but I think it's a neat sexy kind of gift. I'm having my best friends sister do my shoot (not as uncomfortable as a stranger - and much cheaper lol) and then have her pull him aside and deliver it the morning of the wedding so she can shoot pictures of his reaction. I plan to make the "for your eyes only" kind of album and add the pictures myself!

We are in the same boat with paying for the whole wedding ourselves.....the whole wedding and then some because FI's family is really unable to make the trip on their own so we have taken it upon ourselves to ensure that MIL comes....problem is she has some health issues and definitely needs and escort so along comes future BIL who also cant save money and his GF and it all adds up.....I know it makes me sound bitter but I really do want them to come it's just hard sometimes! Anyways I was thinking something a lot smaller in terms of a gift...like a card and an engraved flask or something like that. I've seen those out there for cheap

Love the auto deposit to the bank account...I have also set it up that everytime I do a debit transaction in my bank account $.50 is deposited to my bank account...it actually adds up fast as well and you don't even notice it. My bank has the option to set the amount you want deposited to your account per transaction....up to $10 I think.
