Plus, our TA was able to get us a great price so that helps too!! I think we'll end up with around 25 going which is perfect (since we'd like to be able to spend time with everyone too!!). Let me know how things go with Julia, hopefully your luck is better than mine!
I've been told (by other DW brides) that sometimes the WC are very slow to respond - their idea of "quick" isn't the same as ours I guess.
That being said, my TA has always told me that if I'm not getting responses from the WC to let her know so she can help out. Maybe a thought? ask your TA to step in?
I plan on sending her an email next week so I'll keep you posted on how it goes, keep me posted too!
    Cheers,

    Yeah!! congratulations

To be quite honest, I've sort of let it slide a bit lately. I've been so wrapped up in work and other stuff I have not sent any emails or confirmations or anything. So no I haven't gotten any prices on ipod systems or such. Plan on sitting down with the FI this week or next and getting everything sorted out. Once I do that I will email Julia with all the details and see where that goes.

Are you doing beach or garden? morning, afternoon?
What made you choose Panama? do you have a big group going?

    Cheers,
  3. I love the corset look, it's more forgiving than zipper. You can let it out or tie it up more (if needed at the last minute).

I would take my panel out totally if I could. I have a fairly large tatoo on my back lower middle that I don't want showing. So I'm going to have it removed up till that point just to cover it up.

I don't think there is a norm anymore, if you've seen some of the backless dresses now adays there is nothing wrong with going without the panel.

    Good Luck with your dress!

    Cheers,

  4. There is 11 1/2 years between us. I am 27 and FI is 39. Everyone use to ask me why I would take on such a difference in age along with his "baggage" (ex wife and 2 kids).

You can't help who you fall for. I am more mature and he is def. young at heart.

Love this thread, it's wonderful to see such varieties!

    Cheers ladies.

Thank you, I never did think about spicing up shoes with a shoe clip or anything, that would give me so many more options now that I think of it.
Thanks so much for the link! And glad to meet someone with a love for heels also :)
    Cheers,
  6. We haven't sat down and figured out how much exactly everything will cost b/c there is so much that we will have to wait and see (i.e gifts, attire etc..).

Right now for the wedding, all inclusive trip (2 weeks) and one week for the 2 kids we're looking at about $7k, but we're already down $1k as we get a kick back for every 21persons that book with our TA.

Figure between added costs down there, the gifts for guests/bridal party/groom attire rings etc .. we're looking at another $3-$4k.

All my invitations/STD were done DIY so they didn't cost anything (got material from work)

AHR hopefully will not be any more than $3.

So I guess we can expect to pay about $15, 000. Hopefull we can make it less than that :)

    Cheers and happy planning

  7. Ladies,

    All your shoes are beautiful...

I'm such a shoe girl, love my colourful fun shoes, so I'm thinking wedges for my wedding. We are getting married on the beach but I'm short and don't want to go barefoot.

Problem being, I'm having a hard time finding a nice pair of wedge heels that aren't $200-300...

Anyway, just wanted to vent, and also say I love all your shoes! Everyone has such great, unique and wondeful taste!

    Cheers

  8. Thanks for sharing, that's great advice.

I bought my dress back in Feb and loved it when I saw it.

I then did a big no no, and started looking at dresses again (after I had already purchased mine!) and started to re think my selection.

I went back to show my MOH who lives out of town and didn't see it when purchased.

It was as beautiful as when I tried it on and I still loved it!

Great advise Ellabaja1983, thanks for that thread!!!

    Cheers,

  9. Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to share my interesting story.

I'm from a town of about 26, 000. My FI and I booked our DW in March this year.

    We're getting married Jan 26, 2011.

I just got an email from a friend who has a girlfriend from the same town(someone I dont' know) who booked their wedding for the day before mine at the same resort.

The resort we're going to only has one flight in and out of Toronto airport, so there will be up to 100 ppl from our town, 2 different wedding parties going there together!

I thought that was pretty neat!! what are the odds!

They also have ones with flowers and such on them.
They have some with lights and without.
I picked up a bunch but not sure where I'm going to put them either yet!
  11. welcome fellow Ontario girl!!!

Congrats on the engagement, and picking the DW resort (that's one of the hardest parts- in my situation anyway).

You will enjoy this site, there is so much info... I've learned so much!

We are, for sure, getting gifts for our bridal party. I believe my fiancé will be getting cigars, tequila and I'm not sure what else for his guys. As for the girls, I will be getting them the same jewelry to wear on the wedding day, tank tops for the wedding day as well and other girly things.

I definitely want to get some mugs though for everyone to hand out with the welcome letter. I think it's a nice gesture, plus wouldn't put us over budget!

I agree that most things that are included in the OOT bag, people already bring with them. I know I bring it all when I go down south... and we'll have the restroom baskets for those who don't.

Is everyone carrying their mugs in their luggage or is anyone having them shipped directly to the resort??

For us it's going to depend on how many people go... we're already sitting at 34, which seams like a lot to carry on.
I'm thinking originally of handing them out before we go, but then I thought maybe not in case someone forgets to pack theirs! or I can't see everyone before we go.
So my next thought was handing them out at the airport...
Still up in the air on that.
I've heard shipping to resorts is very $$$$$

    Cheers,
