BM dress- need help??

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

If anyone is like me, you've all done tons of research on dresses.

I originally wanted the Victoria Secret convertible dress in grape jelly but I was too late and it was sold out crybaby2.gif

I love the deep purple colour. I found this pic on the web (somewhere but can't remember). It's sort of the style I'm looking for -- short, light weight, wearable again!

If anyone has ideas of where to find something like this, huh.gif?

Cheers,

That is a beautiful dress! I also wanted the convertible dress and they were sold out of my colors. I tried for weeks to find a replacement...it was soo hard to find the style and color I wanted. Anyway, that doesn't help you! :-)

- try local bridal shops and general dress shops. Because they have seen just about every style dress out there they can probably find something VERY close to what you are looking for if not the same dress.

- There are some on this forum that have found places in china and india that will make any knock off dress from a picture. I did not go that route so I don't have any advice.

- I got so frustrated looking for my dress that I contacted a designer and having them custom made. He took pictures of dresses I liked - added his design touch and my BM dresses were born. This was not an expensive option. So it depends on budgets. If you would like his information then let me know.

-Oh I just thought of another option for the convertible dress...I didn't use them because they did not have my colors...AGAIN! :-) www.TwoBirdsdresses.com

There are dressmakers on etsy.com that can make the convertible dress but why pay as much as they charge when you could purchase the designer version.

Ok so I totally know where your coming from...well, kind of. I wanted the convertible dress from victoria's secret...and it actually Is my BM's dress (in cobalt) BUT while on my serach I DID find afew different convertible dresses on the market.

#1 Convertible Infinity Bridesmaid Wrap Dress by erinleighheart[]=tags&includes[]=title

#2 twobirds bridesmaid (abit more $$$$)

Those were the best ones I could find. There is also one out through Avon but I am not able to find it on their website. I know its not the purple dress you showed in the picture above but it is another convertible dress so I thought it might help...hope it does!!

That sucks you can't get the convertible dresses ordered from VS as that's what my bm's wore and they all loved their dresses! My suggestion, depending on how many dresses you need, is to check on ebay and see if you can find them. I'd been debating about adding another bm to our wedding party and finally decided that I really wanted to but of course the colour of the dresses wasn't being made anymore. We lucked out and found the exact size and colour available through ebay and it was still a brand new dress.

thanks !
Right now there are some on Etsy.com that are similar to the VS ones.
Question for you... did you find the dress "dressy" enough for the wedding?
did your BM's re use the dress?
That's my biggest thing, I don't want them to have to have a dress that they won't wear again... It just seems like such a waste to me...
Thx

Oh the dresses were perfect for the wedding! They were nice and light weight which was great in the heat (and dried quickly in the rain!!) and I know at least a couple of them have already worn their dresses for something else in the last couple months. I was of the same opinion that I didn't want them buying dresses they would never wear again but all my girls agreed these ones would definitely get worn a lot. I think the dresses were definitely dressy enough for our wedding (which I should admit was a bit more casual than some anyways) but there were tons of compliments all around so it's not something I would stress over at all unless you're going super formal.

maybe check out nordstrom... I love the sort by color option, plus they have great returns and dresses are a little more affordable (usually) than wedding shops.

Too bad this wasn't in dark plum because it's very close to the dress you posted above!

Rachel,

Those are beautiful dresses, thanks for posting them. I'll try that site.

I do like the light purple one, and it is too bad it's not darker.

I wish I could remember where I got the original pic from sad.gif oh well

love the wedding pic, .. see you're vacationing soon - have fun!
