I am looking for advice on what other current and past brides have done when using their wedding dress as their "carry on" luggage.

I am flying Sun Country Airlines to Cancun and when I talked to the reservation line today she didn't give me any good news. She said that I cannot travel with it in a garment bag and put it in an over head bin on top of other luggage, I cannot hang it in a first class closet or first class over head bin, I cannot fold in it half and fly with it on my lap in a garment bag and lastly that it would have to fit into a carry on size luggage....so I would have to stuff it into a little suit case! HELP!!!

I don't know if it would even stuff into a carry on suit case and if I did what it would look like when I get there. It's made of tulle so I guess it shouldn't wrinkle too much but WOW I have heard of flight attendants being really nice about wedding dresses.

I definitely never heard of airlines being so picky. I have two suggestions first would be to call the airline back and hopefully you will talk to another person. It would be interesting to know if it was just that one person who says that or if its an airline policy. Secondly, I know there are bridal shops that will actually pack your dress into carry-on luggage for you. And then most resorts offer steaming services for your dresses to get out any wrinkles that occur during travel. Good luck!

Wow talk about customer satisfaction! Seems to me you just got a bitter person on the phone. Definitely, like suggested above, call back and try your luck with another person. Sometimes in call centers you just get a person that will do anything they can to help you and others that are just fed up and want to go home. Good luck. I'll be doing that call myself in a few days...

I agree...I would call back and see if you could talk to someone else. I think if that person said the same thing I would ask to talk to a supervisor.  When I picked up my dress recently the girl helping me told me she just returned from Mexico from her wedding. I asked how she tranported the dress.  She said she was able to board the plane first.  She brough an additional carry on and put her luggage above with the dress above that.  I'm also from MN, but I'm flying Delta...so I will have to call them and see what they say. Goodluck I hope you get a better answer!

that's so crazy, if I were you I would just bring it, I think that the stewardess would be way more accomadating, after all just use some old fashion tears, no one wants to see a bride cry, :)

ok if my first advice is a little to drastic, then I would call and speak to a manager! Managers are way more accomadating because they have better customer service skills and really want your business, way more than reps. try that I'm almost sure that's your best bet!!! Good luck :)
