Questions about the ceromony and after

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

This my first post!! I came accross this website after googling "wedding at Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica reviews". As you can imaging i'm planning a wedding at the Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica resort. I'm still waiting for confirmation from the wedding coordinator, but it should be April 7th at 2:00pm. Now, i haven't attend a wedding in probably 10 years and never been to a DW. So i have a few questions about what happens that day.

-How long is the ceremony (usually)?

-What do we do after the ceremony? Pictures, reception

-What are those OOT bag and what to put in them?

-What should i expect from the wedding coordinator?

Thanks

Stephanie

-How long is the ceremony (usually)?

A typical ceremony lasts about 30 minutes

-What do we do after the ceremony?

We are doing pictures and then dinner (some are adding a cocktail party in between)

My schedule is 5:00pm wedding, 6:30pm dinner

-What are those OOT bag and what to put in them?

OOT BAGS!! :o)  They are gift bags that you put together as a thank you to your guests for coming.  So far mine have t-shirts, cooling spray, flip flop playing cards, Oh Sh!t kits - tissues, antibaterial, shout wipes, and Recovery Kits - tums, tylenol, pepto, gum, etc.  My totes are from VistaPrint (if you sign up for the their email lists you get tons of stuff fo free!). I also go free personalized note pads, pens, and the t-shirts.  (there are plenty of pics of OOT bags, recovery kits and Oh Sh!t kits on here)

-What should i expect from the wedding coordinator?

If it is anything like my resort, you should expect slow communication at first!  The WC will basically keep track of everything you want and where you want it, will give you all of the details you need to know, and will make sure your wedding runs perfect!

Hope this helps you!! and congrats!! You will LOVE this site...I was so excited when I stumbled upon it too!!

Hi Stephanie, and welcome. I am getting married December 16th in Jamaica! very exciting stuff.

I just found out what OOT meant, I knew it was the gift bags you give the guests and from all the wonderful info on here I knew what to put in them, but i didn't know what it stood for. So i am sharing ...

OUT OF TOWN BAGS lol

My ceremony is at 4pm, will do pics then dinner is at 6.30pm so I am guessing I will put a cocktail hour in there for the guests while we are off taking more pics. If I can do ceremony at 5pm I would prefer it but i think it starts to get dark which I don't want. I would like sunny beach pics.

Hey Schayer,

I just thought I'd add that your first two questions can vary a bit. If you're having a civil ceremony (with a judge) it only lasts about 10-15 minutes, unless you add in your own piece (like a sand ceremony or something). Symbolic ceremonies can last a bit longer as they're more tailored to your preferences.

For what to do after the ceremony, that totally depends on the bride/groom, their preferences, and also what time your ceremony is at. Our wedding is at 2 pm (only time the judge had left and we booked a year ahead!) so after the official cereomy (includes a sand ceremony), we're going to have champagne and the cake. Some brides have the cake immediately after the ceremony, others wait until the reception. Then we're having photos taken after that and our reception is at 6:30 pm. Obviously there's a gap for our guests in between but we can't help that so they are free to do their own thing in between. Most of the other brides with the same schedule that I've talked to have doen it that way, as well. But it's your day so you can pretty much do whatever you want :)
