Poll : Hotel Choice

We're doing the private Villa thing .. We actually had friends get married in Cabo last year at the Marquis and it was GORGEOUS.. but since our guest lists were similiar we wanted to do something different and private. During that trip we stayed at Cabo Surf and fell in love with it too! It would have easily been one of our front runners for a hotel wedding. Private, a little different, and the food was amazing!

Michelle, I would say we had about 10 or 12 of the rooms? Definitely not the whole hotel, but it felt like it. Over the course of the few days we were there we met just a handful of other guests and they were all very nice and cool. It attracts a really laid back crowd.

We pretty much set the menu and the price when we signed the contract, so I can't really speak from experience there. But in general he is pretty easy going. I would just negotiate everything and get it in writing BEFORE you sign the contract and pay the deposit, and then keep a paper trail of everything you agree to. Just in case, as an insurance policy :)

OH MY GOODNESS!! These pictures of Fiesta Americana Imperial Suite are AMAZING!! I'm getting very excited about this now.

We are using Varinia from Baja Weddings as our WC. So far she has been really great.

We have been to Cabo once before (family vacation back in Dec 2005) which is what made us decide to have our wedding here. During that vacation, we rented a villa and thought that would definitely be the way to go with this wedding. But now I can't wait to see Fiesta Americana Imperial Suite. OH, and we're DEFINITELY doing fireworks!!

Thank you so much ladies - this REALLY helps a lot!!

Yes, we are charged the entire $2,000 for it...but there's a good reason we're doing it. We were going to do a bonfire on the beach, which is located directly in front of the massage area on the beach (torwards the west), but then we were going to have to pay FA for set-up, F&B, and have a specified start & end time.

Using the IS, we are going to bring in our snacks, we might hire a bartender for the night just to serve (depends on how many people we get), and this way, we can hang out with our guests that arrive on Thursday as long as we want. And we can get rowdy and get in the pool later! Also, since we have to rent the villa for the night, we will have it from 3pm or so (check-in) until noon that next day.

We're not really changing rooms, b/c it'll be too complicated to unpack, etc, so we're just adding it our Master Account block. We'll probably end up having some friends that stay in it, but I don't want to have to worry about checking out, checking in, etc.

We also went with the Cabo Surf. I liked the idea of a villa wedding, but it just seemed like too much work to actually rent the villa and coordinate catering, etc. we wanted a location with an intimate setting - I didn't want a whole hotel full of people staring me down on my wedding day, KWIM?

everyone LOVED the cabo surf! We booked 20/22 rooms. It was so much fun to wake up and see everyone at breakfast/at the pool, etc. It was great for the parents, too. It was nice that if you needed to run up to your room, it took 5 min - not 1/2 hour like it might at some larger hotels. It was just a fun, relaxed, friendly environment. I can't recommend it enough. The location is absolutely beautiful - and the food - OMG! so good! the margs are killer, too!

I am already lobbying DH to stay there again sometime.
