Hey beachbride17
When are you planning your wedding? I just booked with Air Canada for departure of April 5 2010(right after Easter) and got a really good price. They offered an early bonus booking if we pay in full by Oct 31/09. Their offer is every 21st person is free! We are paying $1485CAD(taxes included) for the Barcelo Maya Palace. If guests don't pay by Oct31 then the price goes up by $500....so I think the $1485 is a great deal. It also gets cheaper if there is triple occupancy.
Is this what your talking about when you say wedding packages?

Hi everyone,

So I have some stupid questions, now that I have my date booked, photographer booked, flight booked, I can now start the planning of the reception and ceremony.

I noticed on other threads that brides bring from home their ceremony and reception stuff i.e vases, decorations, etc....don't they have all this for you at the resort? I thought this would be included in the wedding package. I'm confused.....HELP!

Yeah I am confused on all of this...my party is 45+ at this point. Can we all eat at the ala carte. On the package info it states ala cartes can only be used for partys under 20 or something like that...I don't have the info here at work. What has been your experience?

I am wondering a lot of the same things and looking for things now because all the summer....beachy stuff is on sale. Hopefully we both can get some guidance on this!

Hi... as far as I know 'standard' decorations are included in the packages... which includes chair/ceremony set up with linens and a limited collection of colours. A floral arrangement for the table... which will be brought to the head table at the reception afterwards. The table decorations for the reception are all linens with the same chair decorations you can chose from for the ceremony and a centrepiece which is fruit with a hurricane lamp. I think a lot of girls just chose to customize the tables by bringing some of their own decorations with favours etc... I hope that clears things up! I personally am not bringing anything except for maybe wedding favours...

Hi Pebbles,

I was actually born in Kitchener and now live in BC. We're planning on January 2010 and the price I got was about $1,300.00 plus taxes out of Kelowna, BC and I think the 26th was free. This was for the Colonial and through Air Transat. The wedding packages I was referring to are actual wedding packages, as in ceremony and reception, etc. They are similar to the Barcelo's and quite a bit cheaper but I think it's a new thing for Air Transat and I was wondering if anyone else had used an Air Transat wedding package. I hate to be a guinea pig on my wedding day. lol

Ladies: So, does anyone know anything about or have used the DJ you can get through the resorthuh.gif If you don't use that DJ, and you use a different one, they charge you a $50 per hour fee for electricity! Seems steep, but if the resident DJ stinks, I'm gonna spring for DJMannia.

Also, anyone used the floral arrangments the hotel provides? Claudia sent me a PDF of images of some examples, but I'm not crazy about the style of the centerpeices. Anyone know if they are flexible if I sent her a pic of what I want, can she make it?

Also, if anyone was wondering, Claudia told me that for the rehearsal dinner she can't accept reservations of more than 30 people. She will get a guest list three weeks before the wedding and will make the reservation for us.

Also, I got with my travel agent today and they are working their magic on a deal and also on bulk air. I will let you know what they come back with.

MObride.....if we end up with bulk air and most of your guest list is leaving from STL, that could work out for you, so let me know if you wanna jump on the plane.

I too am concerned with the arrangments the hotel provides. Can you email me the pictures Claudia sent you so that I can compare to the ones she sent me, also I never recieved centerpiece pics can you send them to me too? I was thinking of just going with roses just because it would be hard to mess up, not sure if that would be an extra charge. Also need 5 BM bouquets too.

That really stinks they can't have reservations for more then 30 people. We are over 40 now. I really don't know what I am going to do...really stressing about it. My FI does not feel we should spend additional money on a welcome party if that is the case, but I feel all these people came this far...they deserve the best treatment.
Thanks a bunch!

I'm assuming this PDF is examples of bouquets, booteniers (sp?) and centerpeices in each style. you will see when I send it to you. Can you send me what you got to [email protected]huh.gif
I don't even know if my entire party of 30 will be able to sit together at the dinner, so that's even more frustrating. With as many weddings as Barcelo does, you would think they would have an a la carte specifically for rehearsal dinners!

I wouldn't spend the extra money on a welcome party either, to be honest. Obviously, if your budget allows it then do it, but for me a welcome party would be stretching it! I think you shouldn't feel obligated. They will receive superior treatment just by being at Barcelo. Think about it, you wouldn't be angry if you were a guest.

I'm bringing my own photog and videographer, so that variable has been taken out, now I'm worried about the flowers looking cheap.

So does the limit of 30 people only apply to a la carte restaurants for the welcome dinner or to the buffet too. From what I understood, they could also section off an area of the buffet dining room for a welcome/rehearsal dinner for your group and I wasn't told anything about a limit on the guest number. I wouldn't think there would be any extra charge for this since guests have unlimited use of the buffet. Just curious?
