Rooms at the Barcelo Maya

So, has anyone stayed in the Beach/Caribe and/or the Tropical/Colonial at Barcelo Maya Are the low grade rooms in the beach/caribe any good? I don't want to put any of my budget guests up in these if they are poor quality. Thanks!

Hey there! We stayed at the Tropical/Colonial in 2006 and my FI's family stayed at the Beach/Caribe at that same time. The Tropical and Colonial rooms were very , very nice and the a la carte restaurants were very good. The Beach/Caribe rooms at that time were noticeably older, and the restaurants at the Beach /Caribe were not air conditioned at that time, which was their major complaint. However, we thought the best stretch of beach was in front of the Beach/Caribe and we spent all of our beach time at this end of the resort. If i recall, the Beach and Caribe are currently closed and undergoing major renovations so by the time our weddings roll around, they should be nice and new!!!!!
