DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

2 months!! I am sooo jealous! I wish mine was only two months away! It almost would be if my FI had let me keep our original date of 12-18-09. Ohh well!

Your bridal shower sounds awesome, you will have a great time! I love the old fashioned hankies idea! I am sorry you have a stupid FMIL too. I don't think one salad is much to ask, you would expect she would want to do WAY more to help on such a special occasion. I am lucky mine lives in Cali and I live in IL but she still finds ways to piss me off.

And I can't even express how excited I am for you to get to try on your dress and start the fitting process! That makes everything sooo real! I am sure I won't want to take mine off either. One bridal place I went to said a lot of their brides come visit their dress once it comes in and all the way up until their fittings! I kinda laughed, like what silly people, but now that I ordered my dress it doesn't seem so silly (especially since I look at pictures of it a lot). I wouldn't put it past myself to go visit my dress. :)

And like Karen said, where are the picshuh.gif?? You know we are all picture whores!

Karen - I just took my dress in for my fitting yesterday =) I've had it in my closet for a while and just realized we leave NEXT MONTH! Yikes! so much to do! I don't have a normal alterations place I go to, so I found someone on Yelp and she has been fantastic. If you're hesitant about David's Bridal, I would check places like Yelp or Angie's List for some recommendations. She was also extremely reasonable - less than $200 for everything! (At first I thought this was expensive, until I heard how much my friends had paid.)

Hi ladies! Happy Thursday! I have an iphone app with a bunch of tickers and today is 1 month until our legal day - yipeeeee!!!!

Yea for dress fittings! Karen, IMO, I wouldn't go with Davids. I bought my dress there too, but they are way over priced with little to no customer service in most alterations departments. Go with something like Jamie mentioned to get better service and price.

Jamie - not sure where you are in Phoenix, but would you mind sharing who did your alterations? I'm thinking about going to the Wedding Accessory Superstore because they are close to the house but really I haven't done any research yet on the alterations.

Jill - your shower sounds like so much fun! LOL at your FMIL. My PITA is my mom, she is a total head case about the wedding. And I mean that in the nicest way wink.gif

(long story for another thread, but my FMIL complained that she was asked to bring one salad! hello! she isn't doing anything else - sorry had to vent for a second - but not wasting any more time on that)

My mom got some old fashioned hankies to give out for favors too, they are so cute!

I agree, I seriously thought the day would never get closer - because we were engaged about 13 months before our wedding date - but it will be here before you know it! and then you will look back and think where did all the time go!! sad.gif but it's still exciting!

I just had my first dress fitting today!!! woo hoo! so exciting! I didn't want to take my dress off

I totally look at my dress all the time. It is just hanging in the closet taunting me. I even love my legal day dress blush2.gif

Jamie - great idea about yelp! I'll totally do that!

Autumn - where are the pics of your legal day dress?? Only 1 month to go! How awesome!

And I know, my dress is in the closet in our office, hiding behind wrapping paper & boxes, & I go in there all the time to look at it. Sometimes when FI's at work I try it on. :)

Autjo - I took it to Valentina's Alterations. Valentina (who owns it and runs it) sews AND designs so she has a good eye for where to alter and the skill to do it :) She is on Northern and the 51.

1221 E Northern Ave

Phoenix, AZ 85073

(602) 331-4309

She doesn't have a webpage and doesn't always answer the phone, but she does return calls. You don't have to make an appointment. She is open Mon-Thur 9:30 to 6 and Fri and Sat 9 to 5.

She is a little bit of a trek for me, but has been well worth it!

I have a friend who got married in May and used a gal she really liked out in Chandler and I can get her info for you if you'd like. She works out of her home; I'm not sure what her prices were like but my friend had her do the alterations and also make flower girl dresses and she was extremely happy. I live more west so that was just too much of a hike for me!

girls - I'm back from Dreams...you should all be happy not to be getting married in mid-September - we were sweating balls it was so hot and humid!! Overall, good quick trip since we were just in port for 1 day from the cruise. So glad I got to see the resort, even though it was pretty dead as it was so hot and off season.

I was able to meet Rebecca as she showed us the hotel rooms. She is really sweet - you girls are in good hands! By the way, deluxe rooms are fine. I was worried from tripadvisor reviews but they were clean and nice...nothing special and of course the jr suites were a lot nicer, but nothing to worry about at all!

Jess, would you mind taking a peek at the las palmas terrace (& maybe a pic)? I'd like to see what that area looks like.

Also, I think we'll be having welcome happy hours at Dreams on a few nights and I'm not sure if we should just pick one bar to meet everyone at or rotate bars.

I know Lauren said the lobby bar or sports bar were the best. Would you be able to take a pic or describe the bars?

Thanks so much!

Got a pic - I'll upload this week. The terrace is nice and private - definitely don't do more than 70 people on there though, would be too cramped - otherwise it is great.

Got a pic of the lobby bar also not the sports bar though since it was closed. Lobby bar is more elegant, the sports bar looks like a lot of fun though (more low key - your typical sports bar) - just depends on what your crowd wants. Rebeca says the sports bar is open a lot later though and they have dancing.

If possible, can you please bring back the current schedule for their nightly activities... day, theme and time?

Also, the current schedule for the restaurants? Which night each restaurant is open and from what time? I don't trust their website and Rebeca has mentioned out of dates items regarding the wedding info.

Thanks a million and have fun!

Jaclyn

got this for you Jac - I'll scan tomorrow and email to you

That's our plan right now, but would you mind just looking at them both in relation to one another, etc. and see if you think that's a bad idea for some reason? Also, is the price list you posted the current one for 2009?

Are the linens on there if you want something extra? I thought basic white linens were included?

I am soo confused by all the different price lists, etc. for things for Dreams, not to mention all the different quotes and stipulations people seem to get for the same things. I wish they had just one list of everything. Every time I think I understand something, it seems like I read someone else was told something different and it makes planning really difficult!

Also, has anyone used the projector or have info on that? We were thinking of it, but it sounds kind of expensive.

Jillian - did she say there was no set-up fee because you have the Ultimate package? She made it sound free to me regardless, but then someone else on here (I think) said there was a set up fee for some things.

Autumn - What is the starfish idea?

Thanks Thanks Thanks!

Jamie

Jamie, the gazebo is right next to the terrace so I think that is perfect I think.

I'll get the pics up soon ladies - any questions feel free to ask
