Just out of curiosity...

Yeah it is a really touchy subject, Personally I think (And this just my voiced opinion before and anyone carves me over the head with an axe). It is something that should be covered and "YES" where ever you need to fed your baby you 100% have a right to do that, just cover your breast.

I would add more of my opinion, however I am scared of being hunted down. I know this subject is a very difficult one and can fuel some pretty heated arguements.

I am a mom and have breastfeed two children. I have to say I do not feel like breastfeeding your child should be allowed to expose themselves in public. I am by no means saying they should not do it, but do it discreetly. Not everybody has to know and see what is going on. I always used a cover (blankie), but when my of my boys was too big and wiggle I always seemed to be able to find a quite corner to help him out. These babies are entitled to eat, but other people are also allowed to go shopping with their children without having to explain why it is ok for these women to expose themselves. And then there is the extreme... when you have children who are old enough to help themselves and do! I they are able to self-serve they should be on a bottle or sippy cup. I never found it an issue to to breastfeed and use a bottle. I have a sneeky suspision that these people are secret exhibitionists!!! LOL

I think that if someone is comfortable enough to "let it all hang out" then more power to them! I'm not easily shocked (however, I am in the health care profession so believe me, I've seen alot!) and I don't feel uncomfortable seeing someone who is bold enough to breastfeed without cover. Now, would I do it? Nope! I did breastfeed my daughter until she had enough teeth to bite (OUCH!) but then again, I am a modest person and very rarely would even publicly breastfeed at all....it made for some serious lack of adult social time on my part though! But, that's just me....and I certainly would never begrudge someone for feeling uncomfortable about a public display of breasteses...even under the pretense of nourishment! LOL!

I echo those who say that they support the right of moms to BF in public, but please practice some modesty! I was on the subway the other day, and this woman started BFing her kid without any type of covering. On the subway. After a long hard day at work, why do I want to see this? If she has some type of throw, pashmina, something, I would have no issue with it.

I do agree that bfing in the bathroom is nasty, though. And really, eating in the subway is pretty similar to eating in a bathroom since it's so unhygenic.

Although, I prefer that people don't eat on the subway anyways, so grain of salt, I guess.

I don't see anything wrong with breastfeeding in public, but at least throw a blanket over you! Would that not be considered indecent exposure - if you're not allowed to walk around topless, should you not be allowed to whip your boob out even if it is to feed your child. There are more discreet ways to do it without them being "locked in a closet"! I've seen a friend of mine get into "breast feeding position" and not see a thing! There are ways around it!

There are breastfeeding laws that make it not considered indecent exposure.

I do think being decrete is just good manners. But, I think if a nipple just happens to show, it's not a big deal to me. I think if I was at the mall, I'd find a chair in the women's clothing area or in the dressing room area if it's large. maybe some people are kind of exhibitionist about it chosing really public areas trying to make a statement.

I realized after I posted, that this subject could get a little heated, and hoped for it not to. I really am one of those "I see both sides" kinda people and I really wanted to hear what the general population has to say about this topic. I was discussing it with my fiance, and HE doesn't even agree with me. I guess you had to be there when this went down, but it was one of those moments where you look around for the hidden camera because you don't believe that its really happening. I was seriously RIGHT next to the lady and theres the boob, like in yer face! Again, I support BF, but I really think that as comfortable as the person may be doing it out in the open, they need to respect others and be conscious of the fact that it may be offensive to others.
