It just needs a rewrite and someone needs to give this chick some good material. Like how Ann had baby Gwen in Cali and the forum pitched a bunch of money together to help her out with stuff.. like travel, food, clothing, etc while she was there.

Or how many of our members actually HAVE attended weddings of others- in a DW. That's cooler.
Totally!! Or how we planned a vegas trip and met up and had the best time!!!!

And how Jill (J&MWedding) and I met on BDW and now get to crash each others weddings. I get married at the same resort the day after her! It's so cool :)

And I totally never thought of anyone as a 14 year old boy on here. That would be really strange if a 14 year old boy could contribute to some of the crazy bride stories we all have. But it does make a good reminder that everyone should really watch the personal info they post online!!!

What a great article!! While I haven't been on this forum long enough to have developed the friendships like I've seen with some of the other brides, I definitely love that I can come here and no matter what I post, that there's a bunch of other brides that "get it". All the worries, all the excitement - everything! No one else in my life right now gets as excited over wedding stuff as all the brides I have met on this forum :) :) :)

Anyways, I think I'm in the minority here, but while I do recognize all of us in that article, I felt the author was kinda poking fun at it in a sense. I mean- outside of those of us in the "know" of what it's really like, I think others that read the article will be like "WTF? wackos." The examples used kinda make it seem stupid and frivolous. haha just my opinion though.

I do love the forum- obviously. I was married a year and a half ago and helloooo I'm still here. I'm just not lovin the article as much because I kinda feel like the author was kinda pulling a mean girls- a la "wow your skirt is cute" in a sarcastic way. I could be way off, so don't let me spoil your fun. Just my reading of it. :)
Rachel, I did definitely get that the article was a kind of, hey look at these women and this different and weird thing that they do. If the author was a bride or even a woman(I didn't catch whether it was a guy or girl) I think that the article would be more understanding and objective. But parts of it were definitely still true, even if the author didn't write in support of it.

And i loved that part about 14 yr old boys. The thought never crossed my mind either. This is such a safe and more importantly drama free environment and honestly most of us don't even have that in real life with the people around us, it isn't us having "internet friends" that is dangerous or harmful. Not to mention I would think that anyone posting on here that wasn't on here for wedding related stuff would probably stick out like a sore thumb.

I barely know any of you ladies yet I feel like this is probably the strongest support system I have at this time in my life with the wedding planning and all. I would be a mess right now without it and I've barely even started planning!
So thank you all so much for that.

Just to point out- I went back and looked. It was written by a man so it's kinda funny that he would right an article about brides finding others who "get" them. haha However he did interview other brides and I'm not sure how BDW slipped under the radar but whatever. I totally laughed at the bride.com (never heard of it?) member calling the knotties drama. Ummm....they are and I stopped that site before I even found this one. Anyways, in the context in the article it sounded ridiculous, like all these little bride cliques. Oh well- I'm glad I'm not the only one that sensed some douchebagary tone, but nonetheless, the point of the article was that websites like this kick ass- which they do!

andi, sounds like your "friend" needs to shove her "normal" wedding right up her smile117.gif! i'm mad on your behalf! and really, don't these "normal" wedding people know their weddings suck big BORING balls, when compared to a DW?!?

Just to comment on not having guests pay for "normal at home weddings" im sorry but that is BS! Every "at home wedding" ive attended to i have paid a crap load of money - but i never once thought about complaining because 1) i love these people and 2) i would do anything it took to make it to their weddings :)
