As far as the promotion, that was what we were told at the front desk at the gran porto. Since my wedding isnt untill next April, i asked if this promotion is only for a limited time and they said no we always have this. So basically your guests can opt to pay $60 which is for 3 days to be allowed on the royal property. This is great for those people who dont want to pay all that money to actually sleep there but can go visit.

any other questions, i will try my best to answer!
Are there any nice bars or restaurants at Gran? I was thinking of doing a welcome social at one of their bars.

It's official June 5, 2010 @ the Royal 6pm! Soooooo excited!!

Thanks sooooo much, Adriana!!! That was so thoughtful & helpful!! I was wondering the same as LadyDi about the Gran bars/restaurants. Which would you recommend for something like that?

Also just FYI, Funjet vacations does book for both the Royal and Gran. Not sure if anyones interested, just throwing it out there. My mom called to check for me so I'm going to call back and get more details. They, also, do charter flights, which are usually cheaper, but they won't have June 2010 pricing/schedules until September so I'll report back on that, too.

Has everyone reserved their reception location? Zulma never asked me which location I wanted. I am waiting for her response. There are 3 beach locations to chose from correct? Can anyone tell me where those are at on the beach? And which one would be best?

Stephanie, we're doing ours in the garden b/c I'm weird and don't want to be in the sand all nite long. Kimberly sent me a couple pics and it looks pretty so I can send them to you if you send me your email address.

You have beach pictures too? If so my email is [email protected]
I think the garden is pretty but I have my heart set on a beach reception, specially since we are getting married in the gazebo instead of the beach like I originally wanted.

June 5- congrats! How long are you staying? We are flying in June 9.

Gah! I get SO frustrated trying to find past threads...I'm fantastic with Google, but I can never seem to find what I want on this forum.

Does anyone happen to have the link to the "Post your budget here" type of thread? I've tried a bunch of different searches to no avail sad.gif

If I'm really honest, I've just completely fallen in love with The Royal and trying so hard to make it fit into our very meager budget. I'm still exploring other options, but I just don't know if anything else will measure up now. (Of course, it doesn't help that we've been talking and dreaming about Royal for a year now!)

Thanks, girls!

Nevermind. I FINALLY found it. Just for future reference for myself (I've also now bookmarked it) and in case anyone else is interested the BUDGET thread.http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t933

I got my reception reserved at the garden. I just can't take the risk that it'll be windy that day and the sand would be in our food!

Thanks!

Zulma said she reserved mine for the Central beach location, I'm afraid that will suck, its right in front of the pool! sad.gif I emailed her back asking if there were any other beach locations available.

the central beach area i would say has its pros and cons. Pros: it has a beautiful background, you see the whole resort from there, meaning your photos with that in the background would look absolutley gorgeous. Cons: its a high traffic area, so people would be walking to get from the beach back to the resort through that walk way.

The Gran Porto really has just the lobby bar and a bar near the pool in like a hut overtop the pool. Depends how many people will attend the welcome drinks, but the lobby bar may be better just becuase it is a bigger area. The Royal has two bars that would be nice areas to have the welcome drinks too - the lobby bar and also the tequila bar which is outside and has a bunch of outdoor patio chairs.

Thanks for your perspective! I appreciate it! During your tour did you see other designated beach reception locations? If so, what would you say is the best?
