Making a Silhouette in Photoshop

My friend was saying this weekend she'd like a silhouette of her daughter, so I thought I'd give it a try.

I started with a profile picture of her baby. In photoshop, I traced along the image with the pen tool. Then I filled the selection with black.

I thought people might be interested in this idea of wedding stuff of baby shower gifts. A cute idea would be to stand apart holding hands & then silhouette that for a save the date.

Next I'm going to try a friend's dog. I think that will be harder with the fur.

haha thanks. but, really it was my friend that suggested it. I just had to give it a shot.

Her mom had them done for all the girls when they were kids. Back then it was someone tracing their image with a projector.

I think it would be cool on a necklace. Kind of like a cameo.
