Hey girls, here I am at almost 3am having another sleepless night...I leave on Wednesday and am obviously anxious about only having a few more days until I go to California (okay that was the vent part)

so anyway, I mentioned to Will the other day it might be fun to do a video guest book (because I hate the open mic toast time, they had it at my sisters wedding and it annoyed me for some reason).

Has anyone ever thought of this and how can it be done logistically if we are not planning to hire a videographer...your thoughts are much appreciated!!!

This was done at a wedding that I went to. It seemed to work out well. How many people are you having? I think if you have a designated person doing the taping who will make sure to get everyone, it will be great. You could also mention at some point that people should make sure to see "Joe" at some point during the night to videotape some advice/wishes for the new couple!

I've seen it once or twice. You'd definately need a designated video camera/mic person, otherwise people like me (sorry to admit it) avoid it like the plague! As a guest, I'd much rather write something down, or have a picture taken then look like a babbling, mumbling idiot on camera! lol. Although, if someone asked me to say a message to the bride and groom on camera, I wouldn't refuse - but I probably wouldn't run up and volunteer either.

This worked OK last night - However you need an extra camera to be dedicated to the commets themselves - otherwise you miss everything else that is going on... As a nice gesture for Kashmira we installed an extra camera for comments during the cocktail hour to record guests and family.... However, still it was hard to get every single guest to make comments... Some are just shy and don't want to talk in front of the camera.

The thing I LOVED about what Kash did to get everyon's comment was the PICTURE BOOK. SHe had a polaroid on the table and a bunch of colored pens. Everyone was invited to take a photo of themselves, put it on a page in the albem and write their comments.... It was SO cute at the end of the night! - This was a fabulous and fun addition to the reception activities.
