Symbolic/spiritual ceremony question

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know any info on Symbolic ceremonies in Maya Riviera? I have a few questions and any help would be appreciated.

1) Do you still need blood tests when you get there?

2) Do you still need all your legal papers (i.e certification of birth certificate, etc)

3) Is it like a regular ceremony (i.e exchange of vows) but just not legal?

4) Do you still need to wait the 3 days?

I'm asking because my FI and I are having a Catholic wedding back home but we are still having the wedding and reception in the Maya Riviera.

Thanks,

Sabrina

I think this depends slightly on your resort. We are also doing a symbolic ceremony only. We DO NOT need blood work but we do have to bring our passports and marriage certificate and we also had to be there 3 business days before to arrange everything with the coordinator. We're doing the script from our legal ceremony during our symbolic so we can say the same vows again.

I would question the need for passports or marriage certificates. It's not legal, so there is no need for you to hand over personal information. I can see them wanting you on the site 3 days beforehand to discuss any arrangements, although it's a good idea, it shouldn't be required. If you don't want to be there 3 days ahead of time, I would discuss alternative communication methods.

I heard from some people in the industry in Mexico that you should do a symbolic ceremony and get married legally at home, as she had heard of people needing a certified copy of your marriage and not being able to find one or obtain one in a timely manner.

We are going to do the symbolic Mayan mystic/cosmic ceremony and then get married legally at home... just for the ease of paperwork.

My parents were married in Germany and they had a legal and symoblic dates... they celebrate both! Double the fun!

Good points, never thought of which date we would be celebrating. Celebrating both dates sounds good! Agreed that would be double the fun. I'm hoping that our wedding date back home and the one for our symbolic wedding will be close together so it won't be a big deal.

To me it doesn't make sense that you have to bring your marriage certificate....unless you want the honeymoon suit or something which I want. Usually to get the upgrade at a better price this is required.

Great idea to have the same vows......

I'm all about trying to save money so it makes sense for us to do the legal stuff back home.
