Attention Skinny Girls!

So I am very late to this conversation, but am a newbie so you have to forgive me. I've probably been on every diet in the world and what's always worked best for me is writing down everything I eat (keeps you honest) and making exercise a priority. I'm a kickboxing fan (been doing it for three years) and it has allowed me to maintain the weight I've already lost and if I was good about what I eat, I'd lose more. If you can find a good instructor, you can get your cardio and tone up at the same time. I've used http://www.fitday.com/ in the past to log my food and exercise. It helps you set goals and it's FREE!

Hi everyone I am also really late to this conversation but I woul also like to say a few things...

My entire life I have struggles with my weight, I have a super slow metabolism and I can gain upto 5lbs in one week so I have to be very careful with what I eat... I hate to exercise as most of the ladies on here so I do a lot of walking. I walk everywhere (obviously depends on the amount of time you have) but I try and avoid taking my car as much as possible. We have a great subway (transit) system here in Toronto so I try and get off a couple stops before I need to and I walk the rest of the way...

Sarah I can guarantee that if you start walking more you will see a difference for more fun attach 1 or 2lbs weights to your ankles, you will sweat more and burn more fat. Try walking to the store and avoid those silly elevators, yo're a nurse so in your hospital try using the stairs as much as you can.

Now to the food part....DONT EAT AFTER 7PM!!!!!!!!! that is a huge thing, your body does not have enough time to burn off a large dinner and if you go straight to bed it just stores all that fat....also try eating 5 small meals a day that way you're never hungry. People always laugh at me cause i'm always eating but if you'r constantly snacking you will never get to that point where you binge.

Eat what you want even those sweets, mmmmm doughnuts and chocolate Mmmmmm just try to eat them early in the day and within reason, and you have to allow for one cheat day!!

Goodluck, I know how hard it is but you can do it if your 100% committed and dont get on that scale. Try buying a pair of jeans that are a size smaller than whet you currently are at. I have a pair of fat and skinny jeans, if I can no longer fit into my skinny jeans than I know I have to change my eating habits. That is what motivates me to stay healthy my SKINNY JEANS :)

Thanks Edyta. Lots of that stuff used to work for me, not eating after 7pm, trying to get into the "skinny jeans" etc. My biggest problem is now that I'm working the night shift, I pretty much just eat all the time and sleep very little. I work 3, 12 hour night shifts per 7 day period, but run them all together so I work 9 our of 14 days in a row, then have 7 off. I love the week off, but hate how exhausted i am those other 14 days! So, what would you suggest instead of not eating after 7pm? I can do that on the week that I'm off, but the other days I pretty much have to eat around the clock! I'm now trying to eat every 3-4 hours, but that can get hard at work sometimes. There's nights where I might not get to pee for 8 hours at a time, much less take a break and eat. I'm frustrated...

I completely understand, i am a student in my last semester of business school and all through the summer I bartend so I would be starting at 3 in the afternoon and getting off at 6 in the morning. It is so hard and unhealthy, since I was constantly busy I never had time to eat till 6am and would eat the worst things ever like white bread and pizza (just junk).

The best thing that I have come up with is drink lots of water especially ones you're done work it will cut down a bit on your cravings. Obviously you need to eat and since you cant at work than you have to once you're done. PLEASE DONT GET FRUSTRATED sad.gif

tRY THIS for atleast a week

1.drink min.2L of water a day

2. keep using the stairs at work

3. once you get off work have protein ( a peice of chicken or fish on its own or with greens)

4. snack as much as you can through out your shift

5 and eat your sweets before you start your shift

6. also try eating a lot of soup i find that it fills me up (i just do water and vegetables...my parents have a vegetarian orgainc cafe so Im super lucky cause I can eat healthy)

The Fat Jeans/Skinny jeans is a great idea! My sister calls them "goal" Jeans. She'll by a pair of jeans the don't quite fit, and once a month (not everyday) she'll try them on. When they finally fit, she can wear them and buys another pair of goal jeans. It is important not to try them on more than once a month. It can get discouraging if you happen to have a bloated day, and they don't fit.

Sarah, if you have to eat around the clock due to your job, then just make sure to snack the entire time. I think as long as you're moving around, you're burning it off. Maybe try to stop eating 3 hours before you know you're going to bed?

Also, if you start to feel hungry, you could actually be thirsty. A wise friend once told me that if I get hunger pains, try drinking a whole glass of water. If the hunger pains return, then I need to eat. Sometimes you'll find that that is all your body needed...water.

Thanks Edyta,

I'm back to work next week so I'll try your suggestions and see how I do. This weekend will be bad because we're off to our cottage with family, but I'm going to try to incorporate healthy snacks and not eat all the junk food with everyone else. I'll keep ya posted.

Awesome:) and goodluck...im here for all the moral support, lol...I think staying skinny and healthy is one of the hardest things us women have to go through, and having someone to support you helps so much...so next time you feel like indulging in that chocolate cake :) call a close friend or have someone at work help you through the craving and we will do our best here at BDW to cheer you on:)

Oh I so totally have the same problem Tammy! Jeff even goes so far to say, "why are you dieting, you look great" and stuff like that! And, he only wants to eat pizza like every single day. He'll eat healthy if I cook it, but sometimes I'm just too tired! He's also famous for "just eat it, you can be good tomorrow!"
