How to ask to be in the wedding if you are not sure they will be....

Recommended Posts

I've got the same question, Scubadiva. I'm getting married in less than 4 months, and we've got two of the groomsmen and one bridesmaid booked. We each asked 4 people. The remainder all still say they are coming, but how do you get them to book it without coming off like a Bridezilla? My travel agent told me yesterday that all the seats through Signature (my travel provider) leaving via Edmonton are filled. We can still get some through Sunquest, so not all is lost, but obviously its a popular flight. I'm really worried that if our wedding party doesn't get booked, they won't be able to make it there.

AND if someone backs out, do we leave it uneven? My brothers wife and fiances sister will both be there, and I'm sure they'd fill in for someone. And my fiance has the same options. Would it be rude to ask someone to stand in last minute? I would feel bad asking wedding party members to sit out...

If they tell you that they will be in your wedding and buy a dress and then back out, that's on them, not you. You totally don't have anything to feel bad about. Most likely they already know at this point if they'll be attending or not.

So many of us had the same problem... I asked 7 girls to be in my wedding, 5 really close friends, my sister and Matt's sister. I had waited until they all said they were coming before I asked them though, so that there was no pressure on them. HOWEVER, about 5 months or something after I asked them 4 of them backed out. Kids, money, etc, were an issue. So I ended up having both of our sisters and Jackee (Jacqueline on here) with me in Jamaica and it was PERFECT. I had the other 4 girls participate in the AHR but just wore a different dress. I wouldn't change a thing about how I handled it, it worked perfectly for me (not saying it would for everyone though).

I LOVE that dress! The colors we have wouldnt really work out. The blue isnt the same sad.gif I do know my girls did find some dresses they like all we need to do is go back and try them all on.

I think I will be making up some cards here and send them out to be a BM and GM. Any help on working for the girls and for the guyshuh.gif?

If you search for convertible dress (on here or on google) there are other companies that have made them too that are cheaper and might be in different colors. I don't recall who, but I am pretty sure that someone on here ordered a less expensive version.

Personally, I am a fan of picking a color and letting the girls choose the dress that fits them the best. I just really like that whole matches but not matchy-matchy look.
