ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

ok sad news. I spoke to the office wedding manager of the real resorts, Angie Hayes. Its a no go on the kids as everyone has already said sad.gif because as mentioned above people complained. So i was offered the rate to rent a room at The Grand and use the spa there. The hair, makeup, and nails are included in my package but I could use either spa. Still a huge dissapointment, and not sure what we are going to do yet.

As far as guests from The Gran being considered part of The Real guests in the package this is what Angie e-mailed me,

Dear Jess,

You are correct. They are considered a Real guest no matter which Real Resort they are staying at.

Warm Regards,

Angie Hayes

And I was also quoted the $10 extra per person for the extra hour price.

Also this is the first that I am hearing that guests have to book the highest level room at The Grand...gggggrrrrrr I need to find out about this asap

Hey everyone...

So, my date is slowly creeping up!! December 2!! Getting excited and starting to actually give it some more thought now. I had my wedding booked for 3 and reception on the beach at 6, but am now thinking that is TOO late as I think the sunsets around 5 at this time of year...

Can anyone tell me with the Luxury package I believe you get cocktails (or maybe just champagne) and hor'dorves included.... Is that like having a cocktail thing set up? I'm now thinking of having the wedding at 1:30 and the reception to start at 4:30 so we have some time out in the light/sunset instead of having it all in the dark. So I'm hoping that after the wedding - there will be something for people to do while we go get photos done.

My other question is do you think 2-4:30 is enough time to take pics? I really want some beach shots with the guests and some alone, and I really want to walk into town as well and get some cool shots over there since it's so close... I am probably using a friend that is a photographer and he if offering me a GREAT flat rate of about $2000 and he is willing to be with us for 3-4 days to take lots of shots...(I'm loving the Catamaran idea as well; bringing him with us to get shots of that day...) so if this isn't enough time during the wedding we can do it the next day in town...but then we have to put on the clothes again and I know my FI won't really be up for too much time spent on taking photos...

Sorry this is sooo long!!

Jess,

About the guests booking high dollar rooms:

The reason I was upset about this is because my MOH is also my hairdresser. She was going to do my hair and makeup in my room. However, she has already informed me that she will be staying at the Gran. My parents as well are staying at the gran. I know they were going to get one of the low to mid cost rooms. The two highest categories are called Gran Suits. It is only with the reservation of a Gran Suit that Gran guests are allowed into the Royal (other than the ceremoney area). This ment that my mom, my MOH, and my daughter would not be in my room with me getting ready. My TA is working on things for me, but I am considering changing wedding locations because of this and the fact that I can't have my wedding and reception at the times that I want...it is just all kinda rubbing me wrong. However, I have not given up hope on the Royal yet...we will se what my TA works out.

Hi Maybride,

Congrats on your recent wedding! I've been reading a lot of your posts and you have answered so many of my questions! Thanks!

Quick question: I noticed that your wedding date was this July. I am thinking of our wedding for July or August 2010 because we're both teachers and have summers off. What was the weather like in July? Does this area of Mexico have a hurricane/rainy season that you have to worry about? Was it really hot? Should the time of the month effect my decision for a date?

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Cyndi,

I can completely see how this is so upsetting for you. I hope it works out and I am sure it will. Let me know what your TA says.

Hi Ladies,

So as you guys know I have been agonizing over the fact that since our reception is on the beach I won't get to wear heels. I am shorty 5'3 and just love my jimmy choo 3 inch heels. Well I wanted to share with other beach brides this awsome site I found for flat sandals!

SandalWorld :: Jack Rogers, Mystique, Bernardo, Havainas, Summer Sandals, Beach Sandals, Beaded Sandals, Thongs, Flip Flops

A bit on the pricer side but hey if I am giving up heels I am willing to spend on flats that I will feel just as good in.

There is also a lot of choice on this site. Even for bridesmaids and others.

Hope you guys like it.

Hey Jesmcan -

This may sound silly but i wore my heels on the beach when we did photos!!! I really wanted the look of shoes in the pics! Its wasn't hard to walk in either! haha - though when i went bare foot it was easier to walk but i was still glad i kept them on for the photo shoot! :-)

What is everyone doing for a rehearsal/welcome dinner? I wanted to get everyone together for some kind of welcome dinner, but it seems that it is getting to the point of being as expensive as the wedding itself. I wonder if we all can't just meet for dinner at a restaurant at the same time? I mean, we can't all get kicked out, they did book us all there and it is all inclusive! Any thoughts??

I also forgot to respond to Alison, I've been to the night show at Xcaret and we thought it was great - I will warn you, if you don't know spanish, you'll have barely a clue what they are saying, but you will get an idea of the story just by watching it. There is some great dancing and traditional Mexican performances. There were these 4 guys hanging from a pole that must have been 100 feet in the air and they were haning by thier feet and playing the flute of some sort. I know it sounds crazy, but it was pretty amazing!!

Jessica -

Where are you staying? I didn't do a welcome dinner b/c everyone arrived on different days but it can get really expensive. For my rehearsal dinner I just went to the restaurant in the morning and told the head person we'd be arriving at 7pm - they said no problem. We only had 17 people so they just pushed some tables together. If its on the weekend it will be more busy so you should plan for a weeknight. Talk to your WC too - she might be able to help. Of course i got married during the height of the Swine flu so no one was going to turn down our business. LOL...

But leading up to my wedding I didn't know the Swine flu would hit so I just planned on using the all inclusive restaurant so no one had to pay extra. And it was easier for everyone to get to. Just keep it simple and low stress!!
