Didn't he say you could have the disc? It was just going to cost you right? Which makes sense. So why are you nervous about approaching him? Send him a check and you get your disc. Easy peasy! :)

Well I'm glad you finally got it!

Did you know it was a 5x5 book? Or did he tell you what size?

I think if you are really disappointed you should definitely consider the disk. Do you know how Mesita liked her book? Was it comparable in quality to yours?

I have emailed Mesita and she hasn't emailed me back...so I am waiting for her response. She has been great throughout this whole ordeal.

Bottom line is you took a gamble by using this photographer just like you take a gamble when ever you participate in free/discounted services. I get that you are unhappy and diasppointed but you have two options - You can either drag this on for another few months and get nowhere and continue to be upset, or you can cut your losses, move on and consider it a lesson learned.

Unless you just want to drop the whole thing and call it a lesson learned, I'd pay for the disc.

When there's money involved, you have more recourse (well, a LITTLE more) if things are not handled in a professional manner. That's assuming you get something in writing, ie, for $__ you will be receiving ___ within __. Can be very simple and basic with you just stating you want to clarify what you can expect in terms of turn around time and merchandise prior to sending the money.

With the album...it sucks I'm sure, and though you don't need to hear this again it falls back into the "you get what you pay for" motto. He was fulfilling an obligation and considering that his professionalism and quality of work were sort of suspect from the jump, it was a gamble. It always is when dealing with people who are still trying to get their business off the ground and make a name for themselves. Sometimes, you luck out..sometimes you end up with douch bags with no follow through or professional standards.

At least you didn't invest a bunch of money in this, though I know you had travel and hotel expenses. It could still be a LOT worse considering there are gals who pay hundreds, and even thousands for these sessions/photos. PERSONALLY if it were me, I'd chuck the entire experience and look for a photog I could afford and do the whole thing over from scratch, even if I had to wait a while to be able to afford it. Believe me, I know about money being tight. It's just some things, we either have to wait til we can afford them and find an affordable solution we can work toward, or do without them altogether.

Sorry it's been so stressful for ya.

I have to be honest, I think it's a little ridiculous that you are complaining about a FREE book you recieved. I mean seriously!

First you bully this photographer to getting the book and now you are complaining. Give me a break! There are bigger things in life to complain about a freaking B&D book.

Now you don't want to pay for the disk cause you didn't hear from him for one month. Goodness, I wouldn't email you back if you harassed me for months regarding a FREE book either. I feel so bad for this photographer.

I'm aware that this might come off as harsh, but I just can't take reading this thread anymore and your constant whining about it. The way you justify yourself is hilarious to me...it was a FREE Shoot from a person you got on CRAIGS LIST!!! What do you expect? Next time try a photographer from BDW, at least you know that they are a serious vendor.

I have to say that I don't think she is complaining about paying for the disc, she is concerned about sending money to someone who has been nonresponsive in the past. That being said, I agree with others who say you took a gamble, and unfortunately it didn't turn out for you. I think it's ok to complain but you have to acknowledge that from the get go, the odds were stacked against you that this would work out - it would have been great if it did, but it didn't.

I agree with others that say just start over or scrap the whole idea. You will never be happy with this current photographer and you should only buy the disk if the money he's asking for the disk is minimal and/or you are willing to risk the $ on the off chance he comes through.

Okay...I have been reading this for days and Froggy...come on girl....

You found a photographer on craigslist and paid $0 ZERO dollars for him to take pictures.

Then when you didn't hear from him you flip out! Really - what did you seriously expect? If someone hounded me like you have hounded him I wouldn't have called you back either!

Mich - YES Dear - she is complaining about paying him! If anything the photographer should be threatening legal action against her for non payment for services!

She got a free BD shoot and a free book - who cares what size it is - you pay for what you get and since you've paid for nothing how can you complain! She is lucky she got that much. Learn from this...next time ~ sign a contract or use one of our talented photogs here on BDW.

I ABSOLUTELY 100% agree with EVERYTHING Yari said.
