What do you do if a dress you love is only available online?

Recommended Posts

So there is a dress I love that is not sold anywhere I can travel to reasonably. Has anyone bought a dress online with out trying it on? I tried on so many Maggies today but they fit me really weird, all of them. If Maggies fit me weird what if this brand does too. Anyone have experience with purchase without trying on?

The exact dress I have I never tried on. I tried on tons of dresses and knew the things I liked. I LOVED ruching down the body, it was very slimming. I loved a sweetheart neckline (better for larger bust), and i really wanted a mermaid and found a dress that had everything and had it made and its PERFECT!

Did you try asking your local shops if they would get a sample in for you? I know that many bridal salons rotate their sample stock so they can offer a larger variety without as much investment for storage or inventory.

Some might be willing to foot the bill for shipping the dresses into the store in order to make a profit on the actual sale. I would call around and see.

I wouldn't recommend that you purchase a dress without trying it on. When I was selecting dresses I found that I liked them a lot better in the picture than actually on my body. What happens if you buy it and hate it? Will the company allow you to return it? If so, then maybe you should purchase it but if not then why take the risk.

I probably got lucky on this one. Trying on dresses was one of the worst things I ever had to do. It was overwhelming and draining. My mom came into town and we went dress shopping to 3 stores. After that experience I knew that was it. I found a dress that I loved and bought it on ebay. Thank goodness it fits and it is more amazing in person than online. Although it is very risky but like a man, when you know, you know.

Ha Ha Meli thats great. I have tried on lots of dresses and I either love the top or the bottom. I guess if I dont like it I can always sell it on ebay right? I think it is worth the risk. Or buy a ticket and fly to a place that sells them wink.gif

Here is the dress.

I think it totally depends on your body style. I had an exact idea of what I wanted and what I thought I looked good in, but my dress was completely not a style I normally look good in, it was crazy! I would check the return policy and all that good stuff. The worst that can happen is you buy it, don't like it, and keep shopping. It is a pretty dress :) I'm sure a lot of BDW girls would be interested too!

That dress is really pretty, and very beachy!! I think I actually tried on it and to be honest it looked terrible on me...but I'm very short and the straps sat wrong and it hugged my hips in a bad way. But then again I got a Maggie so you never know what looks right on you!!

Maybe you could find dresses with similar fabric to see how it lays. Definitely ask about the return policy if you buy online.

Good luck!

Thanks NaM, Yea, the maggies fit me horribly for some weird reason. But I love the Ella and Essence of Australia but there are no venders in my state. =( Do you have any pics of you in the dress?
