I just came across these invites and I LOVE them!! The only down fall is that they are $12.25 each and it would cost me almost $350 for 25 of them! I am now on a mission to find everything I need and make them myself.

Does anyone have any idea where I can find the boxes to ship them in?

Those are great and should be fairy easy for you to recreate. Just wanted to give you a heads up if you're going to buy live shells (as opposed to resin/plastic). They stink. They were once alive and now they're dead and.. they stink like they're dead sea animals.

I soaked mine in rubbing alcohol overnight and dried in sun and they still smell.. not at much, but still.

With that in mind, if someone is selling these things, they can't be that bad. Just wanted to let you know of the troubles I've had. (I'm using mine for placecards holders)

I know someone else posted about mailing boxes. Sorry I'm not sure where the link is.

WOW! Ok, that is officially the most expensive invite I've ever heard of... but you can easily recreate it (*cough* /steal *cough* lol)

As for the boxes... I know Michaels carries some, and someone here ordered some for her invites - I think it was Lenita? Hmm.. I'll try to find the thread. I can't remember where she got the invites from though... like, if it came with and she just paid extra for the boxes - but then I wonder if you could still order the boxes and not the invites from the place she ordered them from. Ok *rambling*... I'll try to find the thread...

I fell in love with the same invites about a month ago. I just figured they were too expensive and moved on. I never thought to DIY. If you figure it out, let me know, cause I still love them and still need invites.

I am running into the same issue with some other starfish I bought. Let me know if you find something that works!!

Heidi and Courtney and everyone else, Thanks a bunch!!
Courtney, can you believe that price!! They were 12.25 each and then an additional $25 because I did not have an order over 50, so it came out to $331 for 25, NOT INCLUDING the extra postage I will be paying!

Julie, I will let ya know if I decide to go with these or not. They can't be THAT hard, right?

I want to use real starfish, I never even thought about a smell. Does anyone know where to get fake ones that look real? I would really like to know. Oh, and not too pricey of course.

Those are gorgeous invites. I think you may have gotten them from the same site that I saw. I did similar invitations and mailed them in boxes. The ones I wanted to buy were about $12 each. I made them for about $6 each including postage.

I shipped mine in different boxes. I used these Literature Mailers - White - Uline and lined the boxes with fabric/batting to protect the starfish during shipment.

About the stink, I left my starfish outside spread out in the sun for a few days. The smell went away for the most part. If you put it directly to your nose you could still smell it, but it didn't reek anymore. None of my invitees complained about or mentioned the smell. They just loved the invites.

You can definitely make those yourself for a lot less $$, but it is a LOT of work.
