Wedding Destination - bringing my own photographer

Hi,

I am wondering if any past brides have encounter any problems with bringing their own photographer to their weddings in Mexico. Does the photographer needs to get a work permit? and if yes where do we get one?

i think you can bring whoever you want! we JUST booked our photographer and she's from the states... www.karireneephotography.com

don't think you need any sort of work permits - if so, we probably would have read something about it around this forum in passing. i'm sure any of the photographer/vendors on this forum can answer your question, but i wouldn't worry about it. hire whoever you want!!

we brought our own photogs down w/us to Riviera Maya and had no problems! G'luck.

Technically, yes. You do need a work permit. However, there are many ways of getting around this.

As long as your photographer is fully informed on what the regulations are, you should be okay though.

we brought our own. you can get around this at many of the hotels if the vendor is a paying guest at the hotel. Ours traveled with us for the entire week so it wasn't an issue.

You can obtain one from your local Mexican consulate. There is a form that needs to be filled out, and there's also a fee that needs to be paid (I believe it's about $100USD or something like that). If your photographer is going to obtain a permit, they should allow plenty of time to do so before they leave, as it does take some time to get it all squared away.

100% correct! I am in Mexico right now as I had a wedding yesterday. I got my Permit around 3-4 months ago with no problems. At the airport however, I wasn't asked for it and I did check that I was here for work. My rule of thumb, always safe than sorry.
