El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I am heading to EDR a week from Monday for our May 9th wedding. We have 53 people who will be there, and we are wanting to put sunscreen in the welcome bags. In order to keep baggage costs lower, we were wondering if there was a Wal-Mart, Walgreens, etc nearby where we could purchase them there. Any thoughts?

Hi EDR brides!

I've been researching and researching for the past 3 months and I think I have narrowed down the wedding resort to Valentin Imperial or El Dorado Royale.

I just LOVE El Dorado Royale but the room rate is just soooo high and i'm worried the wedding cost will add up very quickly there.

Does anyone have feedback they could share on how/why they chose El Dorado and what nightly rate they are getting (for 2 people)? Also an estimate on the total wedding cost (20-30 people)?

Thanks!

jen

I am on the fence about booking the casita suite and need some advice!! :-) If we book that, we get the basic wedding package for free (as you all know) and we were quoted $4,578.00 for the casita suite for 7 nights. If we book the basic jacuzzi suite and then just pay for the basic wedding package it's about $600 cheaper. Just wanted to see what everyone's thoughts are about upgrading to get the free wedding.

We are going with the casita upgrade. I made a spreadsheet before hand (I know, too much time on my hands) comparing all the packages, and found that based on what I wanted, the costs were close to the same. We are getting married before we go, so the blood test, etc, we didn't need. Plus I knew that I wanted to upgrade the bouquet and a few other details. Besides, I figure the casitas are that little something extra, perfect for a special occasion!

After a bit more investigation (not with a spreadsheet, but I bet my fiance will soon be creating one!), I see that you're definitely right. I think with the pricing we received, it will only be about $600 more for the casita suite. And we really should splurge a bit since it's our wedding and honeymoon! Thanks for your help!

Ooh! This thread still lives!
Instead of the nightly rate, you may want to check the package rate with airfare and hotel. It's cheaper to book them together.
As for wedding cost, they LOVE to nickel and dime you for everything ($500 for using outside vendors, $5/person setup fee for decorations, etc) so you should take that into consideration

We stayed in the Casita area. The room is definitely bigger than the junior suites and you have extra perks. All the rooms are really nice at EDR so you can't go wrong, but, it is nice to splurge if it's your wedding. The only thing is that you are separated from most of the other rooms (which could be good or bad). Our room was in section 25 which was the closest to the rest of the resort and perfect for meeting up with everyone.

I'm so happy we chose the casita area, I only wish I had more time to utilize it.

In terms of cost, from what I remember, it was the same price (or similar) to book the casitas for 7 nights and opt for the free wedding package verses paying for the wedding package and choosing a junior suite.

Thank you so much! You will love it there! It's a beautiful resort. The wedding staff will take very good care of you. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have.
