Hi Ladies,

My wedding planner at the Melia Cayo Coco said that the marriage lisence they give us is in Spanish.... Where did those of you previously married in Cuba go to get this translated once you were home and approx how much did this cost?!

I didn't have to get mine translated at all - everywhere I took it they accepted it as proof of marriage no problem. The bank was kind of iffy, but the girl took it to the bank manager and she said as long as she could read our names and it had the apostille seal that's all she cared about.

Hopefully you don't have to either!

The license is totally legal in Canada (once you recieve your copy from the consulate in Havana). At this point we have yet to receive ours... I have had no problem thus far in changing my name etc with the temporary one that you leave with.

I was going to say the same thing, it is totally legal. In fact, if you don't want to change your name you don't have to do anything about it. If you get married in Cuba you are automatically considered married in Canada, it couldn't be easier :)
