Catholic Wedding

Recommended Posts

The best thing to do is check with the churches in Santo Domingo. Ask them was the requirement is in order to be married at the church. I'm not sure how strict the churches are in DR. They may allow for one person to be catholic and the other one non-catholic to get married there. If they say its okay tell your local church your plans and most likely you can take the pre-cana classes there. Once you complete the class your church can send the documents to the church in Santo Domingo. Good luck!

Heck we would of settled for a monk! lol angel1.gif
I also booked with Pastor York for my wedding in May. Thanks for the tip!! He seems great!

We are having a Catholic ceremony at the Dreams Punta Cana resort. The ceremony will take place in the gazebo on the resort grounds. It is true there is a lot of paperwork to have the Catholic ceremony, however it is no different than doing it here in the states. The only difference was we had to have the paperwork sent in two months prior to our wedding date and we had the legal ceremony here beforehand.

GPbride2009,

Thank you for the information. I booked him as well for November. Please let me know how the ceremony goes. I'd love to here feedback.

For anyone else who is interested his site is Eastern Dominican Christian Mission. He has been very responsive. He is charging us $300. He is also coming to the resort a few days early to meet with us which I thought was great. I didn't want to have total stranger over seeing our ceremony.

Speaking of Catholic wedding, it has been the major task to prepare for the whole year! I wasn't a Catholic before (though I was educated in catholic schools all my life); so in order to marry my Catholic FI and have the beautiful Catholic ceremony, I had to take intensive bible classes for 9 months in Hong Kong, then get baptised / confirmation / 1st communion in Mexico during this Easter. Then paperwork and paperwork, which was well taken care by my future mother-in-law.

We're getting married in the Gazebo of Casa Magna Marriott in Cancun. They claim that this is the only offsite place authorized by the Parish until end of June this year. Marriott is trying to renew the agreement, but it seems that the Parish inclines not to ... so probably we'll become the last couple getting married by the Catholic Church in this beautiful gazebo..

The email address of the priest from the diocese that covers Punta Cana is [email protected] - His name is Father Jean LaCaille. The resort where you are having the ceremony is supposed to confirm the date with him and the location (we haven't decided on our resort yet, but want a catholic ceremony in a gazebo - i'm still sad it can't be on the beach, but oh well).
