Potted Herbs Centerpiece - Home Reception

Recommended Posts

I absolutely love the idea of having fresh potted herbs as a centerpiece. I saw so many great pictures online. It's green and eco-friendly (which I love!). Wondering if anyone has used this idea or seen it? I don't have the best green thumb so I wouldn't be potting them myself not knowing how they'll all grow. We're looking at having about 10 tables so it'd be quite a few if we clustered them. Anyways, any thoughts?

A friend of ours did this for her wedding. She went to the local craft store and bought inexpensive clay pots that she painted white. She clustered 3 pots together on a round tray. She used a mix of ferns and azaleas, it was beautiful. She went to the local home depot and bought them about a week before her wedding and transplanted them. You can probably speak to someone ahead of time to see what type of plants would be best to use during that time of year.

My dad owns a greenhouse business, certain types of herbs he will usually have year round, usually rosemary, which would be pretty.

He usually does bowls with several different herbs and people really love them. I think they'll make beautiful centerpieces assuming you can find what you need at that time of year.

I would check with your local nurseries and greenhouses and ask them if they carry small potted herbs at your time of year, just so you can be prepared.

Thanks for the info. Are you in MA? If so, where? I am in NJ but my fiance has family right outside of Boston. If you'd like to ask your dad what is available in February, and perhaps take some pictures and prices, we would travel up to visit your dad's greenhouse while visiting our family. Then come February, we could drive up a week before the reception or FI's family could bring the herb arrangements down. It would be worth it for us if the cost were good, and of course, I love them. Let me know what you think.

Thanks... Sandra
