Food Diary, Workouts, Why Isn't This Working?

Recommended Posts

My best advice would be to drink a TON of water! It sounds like you are doing everything else right. Limit alcohol and salt and eat healthy everyday. Be sure to exercise at least 30 min of cardio per day. wink.gif good luck...I hope the lbs. fall off!

I had the same issue and my doctor took out all dairy products out of my diet , and that worked perfectly I lost 9 pounds in less than 2 months... now I am eating just lactose-free milk and no cheese for me sad.gif but at least I am still loosing weight!!!

You might want to check if you have any allergies or reaction on what you are eating... there are some blood tests that can give you those answers.

Good luck on your weight loss !!!

I had the same problem and it was soooo frusterating! How many calories a day are you eating? I was eating too few, he had me add around 300-400 per day and since then I have dropped about around 13 lbs. Might not be the same issue for you, but it might be worth looking into. Plus I really enjoyed eating a little more!

I just wanted to expand on this and say that if you are getting too few calories in the course of your day AND working out then your body is definitely taking those few calories it is getting them and storing them as fat. Basically your body would be in starvation mode at this point so any time you feed your body, it's going to want to retain what food it can get because it isn't sure when you might feed it again (which is also why eating 5-6 consistent meals/day is so important too, it keeps your metabolism running at full speed!).

Last year I lost 20 lbs and all I did was sit down with my PT and come up with a balanced meal plan that worked for me. I believe he told me to consume approx 1800 cal/day. That's not to say it was 1800 calories of just anything, it was mostly a good balance of protein, fat, and carbs. Now that I'm in much better shape than I was a year ago, I've noticed that my body consumes carbs quickly and therefore I become hungry again about 5 minutes after eating them...not good! So as of this week I'm trying an eating plan of mostly a balance between protein and fat with carbs only before and after workouts and I must say I am feeling much more satiated and my carb cravings have pretty much disappeared (thank God because I can be so ravenous haha).

All I can say is don't give up, the body and weightloss are very fascinating things and what works for one person may not work for another. Everyone's metabolisms process and respond to foods differently. You might find people who CAN feel full and satisfied from having a higher carb consumption and those of us (like me, sadly) that really should just stay away from them. I would recommend looking in to doing some "metabolic typing". My PT has done this and he swears by it (he is in phenomenal shape too), though he has told me that it can be somewhat on the expensive side.

Yikes, sorry for the long post but I hope it helps. I wish you the best of luck hun!! :)

First, I can't believe that you have 15 lbs. to lose. You look absolutely gorgeous!

Second, I second the idea of checking in with a doctor. My mom was eating a lot of salads and such and not losing weight, comes to find out she wasn't properly metabolizing one of the ingredients b/c of a small allergy. Not only can the doctor check that but they can also give you a good idea of the best diet/exercise program.

I would send you my weight loss vibes but I still need them for another month, they are totally yours starting May 9th. :)

I don't have any original words of advice, but if it helps, I constantly struggle with the exact same issue! My body just gets stuck very easily at it's various set-points, and I hit plateaus all the time. I've been working out for years now, and it just seems like my body gets content at a certain weight, and then I can't lose any more without really pushing it very hard.

The only suggestions I can give other than the ones already posted on this thread is to add muscle-building (serious muscle-building - as in lifting heavy at the gym, preferably with a trainer to start) to your workouts. Without any muscle building or weight bearing exercise, the body will lose about 1.5 lbs of muscle a year after the age of 30. If you want to rev your metabolism, building muscle is a must. Also, start working up from 4 days to 5-7 days of working out per week. When you do cardio, rev up the intensity and/or do intervals - just pushing yourself a little more may just be enough to get you over this plateau.

Good luck! I'm sending weight loss vibes your way, too!

Well, lets start with 1lb of fat = 3500calories. So in order to burn that one lb of fat, you have to have an energy deficit of 3500 calories. Healthy weight loss is 1-2lbs of fat a week and you if you are exercising and eating enough to fuel your metabolism, but not eating too much of the bad stuff, you should be able to see results within a week....a deficit of 500-1000 cals a day from a combo of exercise and diet.

If you aren't seeing the results you're hoping for, try eliminating as much of the processed foods from your diet (eat clean) and go back to basics. Whole grains, veggies, fruits, lean meats like fish and chicken and lot of water. Limit or eliminate your caffein intake too.

Otherwise, stay with it b/c if you being honest with yourself by not cheating and you are making health choices, you are on the right path...Good luck!smile72.gif
