I do want something better than a MyPublisher or Blurb book for my actual wedding album, but I don't want to pay $2000 for it!

I've found a couple of sites that will work directly with brides (most places will only work with pro photographers) to make a flush mount album, and wonder if anyone out there has done a DIY album with Black River Imaging/Somerset Albums? (supposedly the same company)

Or any other company that you can recommend?

Ooooh! I am wondering this also!:-)

I'm hoping some past brides might have some experiences/suggestions to help us out...

From searching the forum and/or google I found these sites:

Welcome to The Wedding Experts - BridesIncorporated.com

AlbumLand

(*not positive if the second does flush mount though...)

After searching on this forum I found lots of brides who said they were GOING to use Mpix or another company, but I couldn't find their reviews of how they actually turned out...

(I don't think Mpix does flush mount either...though I'd be interested in hearing any reviews of the quality...?)

I'll definitely check out the one you mentioned above!

Anyone else...? bunny_4.gif

I looked at Mpix also, as I have used them for other things. I do tinker in photography a bit, and they are better than most consumer places like Shutterfly. However, their "assembled album" is not quite like a flushmount album - the idea is the same, but it's not exactly flush mount.

I think I'm going to go with Black River Imaging, based on reviews I've seen.

I too am in search of a decent quality album. Do you have to be a photographer to use Black River Imaging?? When I went to create a login (you can't see prices unless you do) it said that a studio name was required, will they let you order if you are not a pro?

I created an account without a studio name - I just typed in "none" - no problems creating an account.

I've seen some pics of both the album and the press-printed books and they are just stunning - I think BRI will win out for all my future casual "Blurb-like"books now, too.

Did you order your book from BRI? If so, has it come in yet? I am unhappy with the proof of an album that our photog sent us so I'd like to create my own completely. He told me he will change one or two pictures and the cover but that's it. Um, hello..I thought it was OUR album, not his?!

I am dying to see some DIYers albums!

Hi - didn't order one yet, but it is fully designed. Just haven't gotten around to placing the order. I designed it in Fotofusion - it just needs to be proofed and uploaded. Will update once I get around to it. We are in the middle of moving, so I've been waiting to get settled in with the new address to place the order.

with fotofusion it really wasnt that hard - BRI has their own templates, but I liked the flexibility of fotofusion. If you aren't liking what your photographer did, its a great option.
